MY LIFE IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago  (edited)

I want to reintroduce myself to you on a very personal level today. I will share with you my huge transformation over the last years.

A few years ago I was a very different person than I am today. I lived in Sydney, Australia at the time, spending a lot of time in Los Angeles. Being immersed in a very materialistic society, starting off my high-end fashion label, living a very social, glamorous kind of life life rolled around attending the latest hottest parties.

Meeting a lot of celebrities and multi-billionaires. Sure, I had fun at the time and I enjoyed the temporary trill but there was some empty space inside of me.

I often found out that many of these ‘extremely successful’ people also felt that something was missing, once I got to know them more there was an underlying sense of unhappiness, wearing a mask and trying to present a very different image of themselves on the outside.

I didn’t fully know who I was back then, I was defining myself based on my physical appearance, on my status, on my relationship, the expensive fashion brands I was wearing and my glamorous lifestyle.

I had pretty much everything considered as desirable from the outside point of view defined by the current mainstream society. But something inside of me was still missing.

Around 2012 something very significant happened to me. I had something that you might call a ‘spiritual awakening’. I will tell you exactly what happened in another blog but to keep it short, I ended up completely changing my life. I moved from Sydney to Bali, I quit my fashion brand, I quit my relationship at the time, I changed my lifestyle, I quit drinking alcohol and I became vegan. Many people thought that I have gone crazy to give up so much. And I ended up loosing a lot of ‘friends’ at the time.

I was not going crazy, the truth was I was only setting myself free. Embracing the transformation of my true self fully, shedding countless layers of conditioning from the society and my fake self-image. Unlearning what I been thought. Uncovering the gem inside of my soul. Returning back home to who I truly was.

At the end I gained everything! I connected again with the deepest parts of my self that I had forgotten about. I discovered a life of deep purpose and meaning. I was true to myself again. I discovered what true happiness is.

I used to admire people with luxury, now I admire people with inner peace, authenticity and true happiness.

I used to use my physical beauty for self-gratification and even to manipulate others, where as now, I use my true feminine essence to awaken and inspire.

I used to rush around not wanting to ‘missing out’ on being part of the social scene, the latest hottest event. Now I am taking all the time in the world to just listen to my breath and my body, being present with my emotions, doing yoga, meditating, connecting with nature or being immersed in creating a painting that’s channeled from the deepest parts of my being.

I used to place too much value on the material, forgetting about the spiritual. Now I have discovered that the balance is the key.

I used to mix up my own true desires and goals with the mainstream society's definition of success and popularity. Those desires and goals were never mine. Now I am true to my heart's calling and I follow my real passions.

I value all the lessons I have learned and experiences I had, without them I woudn't be who I am today.

IN ONE LIFETIME WE CAN BE REBORN MANY TIMES. Do not be afraid to embrace the winds of change. Do not be afraid to start again. Do not be afraid of the dark night of the soul and to face the depest parts of yourself. You will only unleash the truth and the beauty within you. You can never loose. You can only gain so much more than you ever knew before and that you ever were before. How can you know what’s missing if you are not willing to take a leap of faith and discover it.

My life is based on a true story. Fully true to my authentic self. How about yours?

Fantastic Post!! First of all, I'm glad to know you found some balance and peace... A lot of people who arrive at a lifestyle like you had, never come back. So congratulations on being able to take deep breaths.

And I think this post of yours should be seen by many young (and not young) people. Since it's a rare opportunity to see someone who rolled with Paris Hilton saying that it's not an exclusive life fulfilling atitude, to go to the latest party.

"Been there, done that and let me tell you don't need to obsess with it"

Again, great post wish there where more like this out in the world.

Thank you for sharing such a personal story, @ilze! I totally agree with you that we can be reborn many times in one lifetime. I believe I've done so myself, at least a little bit. I love reading your posts, keep sharing them :)
