Am I Steeming It Yet? Over a Dozen People Introduced Me!

Why Steemit?

My name's Lance, and this is my first #introduceyourself post. It's taken a while to get started! I heard of Steemit more than one year ago, but my interest has grown over the past months after seeing several of my fave Youtube and Facebook content creators getting censored on those platforms.

I want to give a big shout-out to several Steemians who motivated me to dive into this platform: Jimmy Dore, James Corbett, Jordan Sather, Dan Dicks, Suzie Dawson, Nathan Stolzman, and more. All of these creators advocate for free speech, especially speech that threatens the power establishment. Most of them have been threatened with censorship or have actually experienced it. Watching their struggles to get the truth out makes it obvious that a better platform is needed than FB, Twitter & Youtube.

I've made a small start making some videos on FB and YT, but the "big brother" nature of those platforms don't motivate me to put much effort there. Steemit sounds like a winner, so here we go!

My goal is to participate in the Steemit platform and to grow with it.

More Stuff

I have a lot to give, but it takes some effort for me to come out of my shell. I'd like to be inspired to create content (writing, videos) to share myself with the world. I tend to read mostly non-fiction stuff: mostly historical and political, or anything that's based on learning something. That includes anything from the history of the Palestinian struggle for liberation, how to sail, how to trade FOREX (foreign currency trading), etc.

My tendency is to steer clear of groups and groupthink. I gravitate more towards a few deep, intimate friendships. That being said, I realize there's a happy medium of the two.
