Steemit Introduce Yourself #2/3: I'm Jackie O - Pole Dancer, Fiddler and Engineer.

A Classically Trained Violinist...Gone Rogue

Hi Steemians!

In my first "introduce yourself" post, I talked about my passion for pole dancing. In this post, I'd like to introduce another aspect of myself - The Fiddler.

I've been playing violin since I was 5 years old. This is me (on the right) and my younger sister, just before one of our first performances together on the same stage.

I grew up surrounded by music and was performing on stages very soon after I started lessons. My Mom was the choir director at our church, so I spent every Sunday of my childhood singing and playing violin for Sunday mass. Throughout high school I was practicing a minimum of 3 hours a day and played in multiple orchestras over the years, including the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra (TSYO). Music was my life for those years, and I loved and hated it at the same time. My Mom is a large part of why I was able to stick with it and keep improving and practicing. I'm very grateful to her for that. When it came time to choose a path for my education and eventual career it just didn't seem practical to pursue music. I had this limiting belief that you couldn't make money and support yourself as a musician.

So, during undergrad and grad school, music took a bit of a back seat in my life, and I've definitely been missing it. I've been making an effort in the past few months to put myself in musical environments, going to open mic nights around the city and meeting some amazing people. I've been playing more and more music and experimenting with jamming along to different styles. Here's a video where I improv along to "Wolves" by Selena Gomez:

I'm having a lot of fun experimenting and am looking for new ways to incorporate music into my life daily. I've even decided to put myself out there as a freelance musician, as scary as that is! I'm excited to connect more with other Steemit musicians and welcome suggestions for music to learn/jam along to!

Do you have any songs that you'd love to hear violin/fiddle added to? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks again to @jaybird and @dan-atstarlite for the introduction to Steemit! Having a great time so far. :)

Stay tuned ;)

greetings, beautiful jackie

Be very welcome to steemit social network. I've been here since February of this year and I'm really enjoying. I participate here actively every day. Here, we can learn a lot by reading other people's posts about content that interest us and we can post our own content, helping people within our areas of expertise, training our writing, making a kind of "therapy" because, writing helps us to reflect on our knowledge and we will be slightly paid for it. I hope you enjoy.

My main tip is: before you begin to post your content, read the posts by teaching staff how to use this network, about how to write good text, how are the coins sbd, steem and steem power, how to advertise your text using the discord by example, votes issues and other things.

Other than that, we are always available. If you have any questions, go ahead.

Good afternoon!!!! Welcome!!

Thanks @julisavio!

Amazing!! Thank you so much for this opportunity!! :D Please look out for an email from me in the next hour! Hoping it's not too late to add a bit of personal commentary!

Not too late. I am writing the post right now and the images aren't cooperating at all. So it should take me some time. lol

Great! Let me know if you need me to send you anything directly - I just sent the email. :)

I want to prectice whit my violin :(

What is preventing you from practicing violin, @thegeorge?

I see from your profile that your main language is Spanish and that you're using Steemit to practice English! I think that is a great use of the platform!

If I may, I'd like to correct your sentence to help you learn:

I want to practice with my violin.

Great to meet you and thanks for checking out my post! Maybe you can help me practice my Spanish! :)

wow nice post and it seems that you have creative interests apart from engineering, so all the best for your future in steemit community.

Thanks for the welcome @akash1singh!

Amazing.

Welcome to steemit. nice to meet you

Wow. Thank you so much Curie community!! So grateful to have your vote! It was quite the surprise when I woke up this morning. This definitely motivates me to keep producing content on Steemit. 😀

Awesome, I am currently looking for some musicians to collaborate with. I do dance and performing arts videos and I'm looking for some music to use that's not copyrighted for my videos. It would be a big part of the new videos I release promoting not just dancers but musicians also. Let me know if you are interested

Cool! Yea, I'd definitely be interested to learn more about your vision!

Greetings minnow!

Thanks @hiyo! Do you play any musical instruments?

I play the keyboard .... obsessively!

Also into Music and Engineering. Love the diverse interests!

They definitely keep me busy!
