Hello Everybody,

I am new to this platform but am interested in seeing what I can contribute to the community.

I have a variety of interests and have not yet determined what the focus of my posts will be. This will be a fairly organic experiment as I hone my writing skills and the content will likely be dictated by what gets the most up-votes. Gotta give the people what they want.

That said you can expect posts about the latest movies, comics and sci-fi/fantasy novels, as well as posts about martial arts, fitness and nutrition.

I have lost 70 pounds over the course of the last 10 months through a combination of diet, strength training and other active pursuits and am looking forward to sharing my past experiences, current progression and answering any questions about the journey.

Thanks for your attention!

Hello jackofcrows! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

Welcome to Steemit, @jackofcrows, and congratulations on the weight loss. I myself could stand to do some of that.

Can't tell, since I've never been there, but that wouldn't happen to be Alaska where you're standing? At least it looks like it might be cold there, just not quite snowed in yet.

I think you will find a couple of communities at least where your topics of choice will be welcomed. It's also good thinking to be observing what people want to read, since the same rules that apply everywhere else apply here. So does the getting noticed part.

I wish you well in your endeavors on Steemit, and hope you will find what works for you.

Thank you, and yes it is in fact Alaska. Glacier Bay to be exact. I was standing there a week ago tomorrow. It was a pleasantly beautiful day. I plan on doing a full write up on my experience within the next few days.

Well, alright! Not bad for someone who's never been there. I suppose it could have been anywhere in the more northern climes, though. It seemed to have some decent-sized mountains in the background, and so I just guessed.

So was it fairly warm? We've had some mid to upper 90 degree weather here, and so I'm wondering just how far north the heatwave might extend. At least the 50s, maybe?

Oh, I can wait to see your posts, too. No need to tell me all about it here. :)
