Introducing.... my furbabies!

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

This post is at the request of @sykochica and @matytan, who I was lucky enough to meet in the general chat last night. (If you haven’t checked it out, you seriously should!) I wandered in there last night looking for advice for a noob and everyone was really helpful!

Anywho, the host, @sykochica saw that I have cats and wanted to see them! I thought this would be a good time to introduce the little hellions!

So, without further ado- here is Zeke and Tux!

I started fostering for the local SPCA almost 2 years ago. My first foster was a momma and two brand new babies (they were literally four days old when I got them). I grew up with kittens (LOTS OF KITTENS... I think we had 3 litters at once when I was in middle school!) I really wanted my kids to have that experience, but I’m a responsible way. Fostering was the obvious option.

I ended up giving the family back when they were ready for adoption. A couple weeks later, I got a call and they had another foster for me. A single black kitten.

Zeke came to us and immediately melted our hearts. The first night, he found me in bed and slept on my chest. He slept on me a lot as a kitten:

Needless to say, I adopted him. He was an awesome kitten. He was curious, playful, adorable... how could we not fall in love with this guy?

Well the time came, as it does with all kittens, when he became unbearable. As most kittens do, he was overly rambunctious. He’d hide and attack us as we walked past. My youngest had scratches everywhere and started to get scared of him.

Luckily, after only a couple weeks of this, I got another call from the SPCA. They had another single kitten who needed fostering. Enter Tux:

Who wouldn’t fall in love with that face??? And those whiskers?!?! Serious beyond his years, he and Zeke immediately took to each other. Zeke’s playfulness and aggression turned away from the humans in the house and onto Tux... in a good way. He was gentle with him, AND he stopped attacking the rest of us! It was the best!

Tux had suffered a respiratory infection as a baby that left his left eye partially blind and with chronic dry eye. Since getting him, I’ve had to put cream or drops in his eye 2-3 times a day, every day.

Regardless, we fell in love with the little cutie and adopted him as well. As a kitten, he also liked to crawl in my arms for a nap.

And it was obvious that Zeke was enamoured with Tux, as well.

That was about a year and a half ago. Now, they are more grown up, still love each other, but can still act like little assholes sometimes! Zeke is the bigger dick. He is constantly getting into mischief, but he’ll still crawl into your lap for a nap (but only if you’re on the rocking chair).

Tux is a little nicer. He still needs eye drops, which are expensive, but he’s totally worth it. He won’t sleep on me anymore, but he likes sleeping next to me. He also comforts the kids when they need it!

They both act like puppies sometimes. They wait outside our bedroom door for us to wake up, they follow you around. Ultimately, they are good kitties and everyone loves them.

Here’s a few more pics of them, just for the hell of it.

Of course my dear! I’m glad you got everything figured out with your account!

Your cats are really adorable, and I love their stories. I rescued an amazing kitten at the end of 2016, and who was later very tragically knocked down, probably because he was blind in one eye. Here is his a part of his story.

Beautiful cats. Fostering cats is a good gesture, I hope you always find them a good home. 😀

Well I adopted these two, so they’re mine forever! I would love to continue fostering, but my partner is the one who feeds them and cleans their litter boxes and he says no... he gets too attached and will want to keep them all!!!

Kitties are the best. I bet most knew immediately who is called tux, and I love Zeke looking at you like : "WTF you looking at, can't you see I am being adorable"

Zeke has the best facial expressions... I’m constantly making up his thoughts and saying them out loud. It’s too much fun!! Tux is really just serious looking all the time... dunno whether it’s the mustache or the whiskers...

Super cute kitties! And awesome job on the post.

Thank you! And thanks for stopping by!

Awe , adorable photos. Can really see they are now best friends for life.

Yay for fur babies! I love rescue kitties, especially black ones. Thanks for posting so many pics, they made me smile. :)

No problem! Thanks for reading!

Your kitties are so cute! I am quite taken by Tux's little white "mustache" and whiskers! 😊

So were we!!!! Still are at times... they’re just so adorable! And as I said, they make him look so serious!!!

Amazing times!!!!
