Hello Steemit Community! My late introduction!

Hello everyone! My name is Jan and I’m sorry for my late introduction. My life has been kind a crazy this year. I’m originally from Ohio. For the last three years I have lived in Mississippi. Tomorrow morning I will be moving to New Mexico! I have always wanted to live out West and have a view of the mountains. My friend sold his house and I sold a lot of my belongings. I’m ready to start this new chapter in my life.   

I am a Professional Photographer and I do have my degree in photography and business. I have taught photography classes in Ohio and on the Gulf Coast. I also hope to teach once I’m settled in New Mexico. 

I have been obsessed with photography since I was 10 years of age when my Dad gave me my first camera. I am one of those people that think all you have is photographs to document your life. When you’re gone…the photos remain. Photography has helped me get through all the bad chapters in my life…and it’s even made me happier during all the good chapters of my life. Photography just makes me happy. I can shoot for hours at a time…and that’s all I think about. This world changes so fast…photographs help us remember the past.  

 

I do have other interests. Travel being the main one! My entire life I have just craved to travel and see the world. I also dabble in jewelry making. I have learned metalsmithing and in the process of learning fused glass for jewelry making. I also love anything crafty…scrapbooking, genealogy and I just bought a Silouette Cameo 3.  

In the last year I have become obsessed with vintage campers. I now own two! One is a 1969 Apollo and the other is a 1972 Shasta Stratoflyte. The Apollo is pictured and it’s is great shape…I just need to paint it, glamp it up and make it mine. The Shasta need a lot of work so it might take me a few years to get her done…but I will have an indoor space to park both. I plan on traveling to some vintage camper rallies when I get one of them ready. Hoping my new obsession will help with my dream…traveling and documenting…making beautiful art.  

 

On a personal note… I am divorced. I have one son and five grandchildren. Being a grandparent is one of the best things in my life. I love those kids more than words can say.  

I have a friend that I live with and I am helping him raise his four children. They feel like my own. 

I have three furbabies…two Yorkies and one Chihuahua. They are my babies that love me unconditionally and they never back-talk. 

Writing is very hard for me. I plan on posting my photography images and blogging about my art. So, be patient and let’s all hope my writing gets better with each post! Life can be amazing…if you let it It’s an honor to be a part of this growing community. Looking forward to meeting you all.
