Hey Steemians! I am an aspiring model that is new to Steemit!

Hello Steemit community!

My name is Joseph D. Bevans; I was born as an only child, in Irving, Texas where I have lived ever since. I have 4 backyard chickens, a bearded dragon, and like most households, some fish. I like to think that I am a pretty average Joe (pun intended) as I enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, video games(on PC of course), and working out, but recently I have come to the realization that I need to start planning my future. After numerous friends and family had told me that I had so called “model like appearances” I decided, “What the hell! Why not?” and I began to research. I found that most models had a grand Instagram presence. So I started an Instagram account back in September, which has since flourished, and now as I look to widen not only my fan base but my career options, I am searching for social media platforms to grow and expand onto. My cousin, who has recently been exploring the crypto-currency world and knows about my social media search, has introduced me into Steemit and so here I am.

Philosophy I Live By

As I am only 16 years old and have much to learn about this world; I see it of utmost importance to keep an open mind to everything, whether it's regarding opinion, religion, politics, lifestyle, or sexuality. I realize that I am on a long rocky road to finding myself and who I truly am. I am thankful for everything I have in life, not in a materialistic sense but in love, for it has nourished me in every way. I believe that anyone can do almost anything if they work hard and have some form of love in their life. Those who doubt anyone’s dreams are just asking to be proven wrong, for they are only encouraging them more to accomplish their goals. Within the short lengths of life, things do not change in a year, month, hour, or minute, but in a simple second. So what are we to do but love each other?

My Modeling Story

Though social media has been a large part of my grind, it has not been the entire story. Back in July, a family friend of mine was kind enough to reach out to a modeling agency she had previously worked with. She ended up scoring me a meet-and-greet with the head of commercial print at the agency, where I found that I simply needed to work on some body measurements: a slightly bigger waist, neck, broader shoulders, and I just needed to be a tad bit taller. Other than those small factors, it seemed that I had the facial structure for the job. They said to keep in touch and to not get too bulky in the gym, other than the improvements I needed to make of course. A couple months later, another family friend who works for Neiman Marcus showed my Instagram account to the runway model scouts at her work. They were intrigued until they found that I was a minor, but they sent my information to the head of runway at the agency I had already been talking with. This got me a meet-and-greet with the head of runway, who told me that I just needed to grow a little bit taller before he would consider signing me. They wanted me to reach 6 ft, and I’m 5’11 now, so that one inch has been laughing at me for what seems like forever. Despite this, I have decided to make the most of the situation by honing in on my social media presence and by beginning to research an acting career as a possible alternative.

So far, because I have spent most of my time and effort on Instagram, it has proven to be the platform I have had the most success on. I have managed to accumulate almost 10,000 followers in the past 4 months. This has given me a different outlook on life. I have set my Instagram account up as a portfolio, as I “model” different outfits throughout different environments in most of the pictures on my page. At first, I found this difficult. Not only did I believe I had a limited wardrobe and seemingly restricted environmental options, but I also had a closed mind. Initially, I found it hard to discover areas I could use as backdrops for my amateur photo shoots, living in the suburbs and all, but I trained myself to find beauty everywhere. I was forced to be constantly looking for opportunities in unexpected locations. With this newfound eye, I was also able to find beauty in almost everything, which has allowed me to successfully find clothes suitable to model in even at thrift stores. This new mindset has provided me with an abundant amount of resources, and more importantly a more positive outlook on life overall.

Here is my favorite picture on my Instagram. It was taken atop a collapsed house that my mom and I had come across during a photo shoot. The placement of the chair was just perfect!
