Hello, Steemians! My name is Julio Mérida and I am a Guatemalan university student who has lived in this beautiful country for 21 years. I learned about Steemit just as 2017 was ending, and now I finally took the opportunity to be a part of the growing community, share my life experiences and participate in the variety of interesting posts I have seen in these last few days.
First, a little bit about myself... I am currently beginning my fourth year (out of five) to become a Mechatronics Engineer on Del Valle University, here in Guatemala. I speak English and Spanish, and I am trying to learn a bit of French and Japanese. I live with my caring family, and am focused on my studies to become a professional very soon. I love to hear music in my free time, and also to watch action, thriller and psychological movies and tv series, because they allow us to dive into a different reality, experience intense emotions, and reflect on the way of life that they portray and all the interesting people in it.
I am greatly absorbed in topics regarding Electronic & Mechanical Engineering, and that is the reason I chose my carrer, but I am also interested in the developing relationship between economics and technological advances in this century.
Through the last few years, not only have I acquired a solid amount of knowledge on electronics, mechanics and computer logic, but I have also been traveling to various places inside my country that have amazed me and I believe that everyone should travel to, at least once in their lives.
The places I have visited, daily life here in my country, and many other experiences have led me to profound reflection on the way people live, and how societies are so quickly developing through the use of technology. If one wants to succeed in this complex world we live in today, it is very important to participate in different activities that can provide opportunities to learn, to meet people, and to develop one's way of viewing the many aspects of everyday life. It is also very important to take a place in activities that provide a way to help other individuals, and try to improve the society we live on. This is why I have enlisted with Habitat For Humanity in various aid-focused campaigns, and I believe that one day I will be able to produce an impact on my community, to benefit many people that deserve a better life.
So, to wrap it up, I would like to begin my participation in the intersting online community that has been created by the developers of Steemit, and I think that the work they have achieved is an amazing new way of social interaction, learning with the help of people all over the world, and of course find very interesting points of view. I will try to post as much as I can with stories about personal experiences here in Guatemala, places I have visited and would definitely love to share with others, reflections on my society and the way people think and behave, and finally with interesting material about electronics, economy and technology.
Hope that you liked this introduction, and I hope to hear opinions on it by people from all around the world!
Welcome Julio! Have fun
