Hellooo everyone! I'm 11 years old and this is my first time using steemit.
I first started learning about 'Chindogu' when I was assigned a homework piece. It is REALLY interesting and I hope you like my post!
Chindogu– the art of useless Japanese inventions which are supposed to be useful but really aren't.
Kenji Kawakami has been inventing unusual things since he was a teenager. In high school, he built a cart-like device from salvaged scooter parts. And in university, Kenji Kawakami invented a glider bicycle...that didn't fly. However, his creative juices really got flowing in 1980, when he came up with the art of inventing unusual things. "Chin" actually means 'unusual' and "Dogu" means 'tool' so together, obviously makes unusual tools.
THE HAY FEVER HAT
A good example of a bazaar invention made by Kenji Kawakami is the Hay Fever Hat, a strap-on roll of toilet paper that provides allergy sufferers with an unlimited supply of tissue.
THE BUTTER STICK
To smear butter on a piece of toast, you could simply peel back the wrapper a little bit, then You’ve got a butter stick. Or, you could put it in a totally unnecessary plastic tube that pushes the butter up like lip balm.
This ingenious breakfast tool allows for precision buttering and convenience.
THE HANDY CHOPPER
How about this one? The Handy chopper- Don’t cut your own fingertips off when you could sacrifice someone else’s.
THE CHAIR DRESS
This ‘Chair Dress’ is one of my favourites. It pumps air into the dress while you walk and after a while the dress will be inflated enough to sit down on it.
THE WATER COLLECTER
This water collector is an inverted umbrella which collects water for later. The umbrella will catch the rain water and run down a pipe and into a bag.
While the inventions sound all about fun, some strict rules about what constitutes one apply, among which are, that while they should be tools for everyday life and they should not be for real use and cannot be sold.
I hope you like my post and be sure to look out for my future posts! :)
