So... My boyfriend decided that I should join this community to showcase my artwork but to be honest I have no idea what I'm doing. Lol! But here goes nothing!
My name is Chelsea. I'm 28 years old and was born in Calgary, Alberta but grew up in a town outside of Edmonton. I'm an artist! I specialize in drawing nerdy things like anime, comic book characters and other pop culture fandom things. I first got into drawing when I was like eight years old because Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z were my two favourite things in the world. Vegeta for the win! XD That and my best friend (whose an amazing artist) were the things that inspired me to pick up a pencil and start doodling. I never really took drawing too seriously, more of just a way to pass the time in boring high school classes kind of thing and I straight up stopped drawing all together for almost 6 years after high school because ya know... life and all that jazz. But a few years ago I started playing around with pencil, ink and copic markers and started getting a bit of a fan base on facebook, actually getting some commissions and interest in my work! So that kind of inspired me to keep pushing forward and so I saved up some commission money to buy myself a wacom tablet and dabble in digital paintings. One of my big inspirations in the art world has always been the great sakimichan because her work is incredible so I spent hours watching tutorials and practicing and whatever else to push my skill along.
But one thing everyone seemed to always love about my art was my line work and doing digital paintings you have to phase those lines out.. but I've recently adopted them into my work again, giving my drawings a sharper, comic book-ish type edge to it. Which I'm liking so far!
Anyways, I'm totally rambling. But I'm looking forward to sharing my artwork with all of the awesome people of steemit! I hope you like it! :D!
