One important aspect of steemit is voting for witness. I am still learning about how witnesses keep the platform functioning.
Another thing which can really help you enjoy your time here is the Discord App. This group is all about the Steemit Music Alliance. The music scene is pretty amazing on steemit. There are a lot of people posting their music on @dsound http://dsound.audio.
I use stack edit to edit my posts. It helps me to see my post side by side, that way I can look at my layout as it evolves.
There are some very helpful people over at the #MinnowSupportProject, they help people to find their feet on steemit.
