So, who exactly are you?

My name is quite self-explanatory as it is shown on my profile.

I'm an I.T. professional and have worked in the information technology sector since my junior year of high school (for those who want to feel old, I started doing this doing the 2003-04 academic year). I started my first business, WorldWide Publications & Media, in March 2004, responding to service and repair calls within a 25-mile radius. That business was consolidated with my current business, Heartland Internet Media Networks, in August 2011. In comparison to 2004, the business now services on-site calls and repairs in seven states in the U.S. and remote technical support in the U.S. and fifteen other countries.

I'm also an active freelance journalist and broadcast media professional, which I started doing in 2005. As a combination of both my passion for information technology and journalism, I founded the Heartland Newsfeed news organization on New Year's Eve 2016 just minutes before entering 2017. As an attempt to return to broadcasting, following a long-standing hiatus related for former radio station WWPM MediaNet, the Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network was established in Spring 2018.

Additionally, I'm the chairman of Tri-Counties Libertarian Party, a local chapter involving the counties of Montgomery, Christian and Shelby in Illinois and the acting chairman of Capital Area Libertarian Party, another local chapter surrounding Sangamon County and the state capital of Springfield. I am also the deputy candidate recruitment director for the Libertarian Party of Illinois.

Why are you on Steemit?

I actually heard about Steemit when it was kinda in its early phases in summer 2016, but I didn't do much with it then.

It wasn't until this year when I really started pushing over content to the website, thanks to Steempress.

I guess I'm here with a multi-factor reasoning:

• Feature my work on Steemit as a content syndicator.
• Build traffic for my news website.
• Like most people, get paid for their passion.

These factors, in a way, intersect with each other. Allow me to explain:

• I republish the content that I write and for content that I have permission to republish on other platforms. Most of the platforms we push out our stories to via our RSS link (e.g. News360, Bing News, Google News, Flipboard, etc.) have no financial incentives for publishing quality news content. While the incentive payout on Steemit isn't great, it is still better than nothing -- it's not always possible to make $500+ in a given night on one post and it's not possible on your first day.
• There is always a link at the end of each republished article that goes to the original article. Nearly 30% of all incoming traffic to the Heartland Newsfeed website comes from Steemit.
• I'm passionate about what I do and anything I get paid or receive in donations is appreciated.

So what's next?

I'm going to continue what I've been doing and will strive to keep pushing out quality content in hopes that more STEEM is thrown my way. Even if it doesn't, that's okay. That's why I'm a Millennial who works in several industries...
