Greetings, Steemit! I'm here to fix the world's problems! (And post my fiction.)

Hello Steemers! (Steemlings? Steemengines? Steemships?) I'm so pleased to be here! Allow me to introduce myself...

I am Leslie Starr O'Hara. Known to most as Starr.

And here are 10 things about me that you may find interesting:

1. I'm a voluntaryist. Seems like there are quite a few of us here, already. Cheers!

2. I am a writer of fantastical fiction. I plan to publish some of my short stories on Steemit, as an experiment, under the tag "starrfiction".

3. I often feel as though I have to keep the two identities listed above separated, and that sucks. It's kind of complicated, but suffice it to say that in the science fiction and fantasy writers' community as of late, a weird brand of authoritarianism has proliferated (that is not recognized by its adherents as such.) In its effort to silence and/or censure some legitimate assholes in the field, the authoritarians have gone overboard, demanded political and intellectual conformity, and made things unwelcoming for those of us who don't fit into the majority. I'll probably publish a thing about this later on.

4. I'm the mother of a badass kid, whom we shall call Steve.

5. I also have a day job. It has to do with guns, but does not have to do with military or law enforcement. (So you can breathe a sigh of relief.) I think guns are pretty cool.

6. My cat is sleeping in a shoebox on my desk, even as I type.

7. Sometimes, I like to lie down on the ground and stare up at the night sky. When I do it long enough, I start to feel as if I'm falling out into the universe. It's like doing drugs, for people who can't deal with the aftereffects.

8. I want to travel everywhere and see everything. So far, in my first 32 years, I've been to most of the 50 states, Mexico, and Ecuador. Slow start, maybe, but I'LL NEVER SURRENDER!

9. I've never been religious, but I really love religious visual art.

10. I know how to fix the world's problems. Well, not all of them, but a lot. I'll be posting my ideas for solutions here on Steemit under the tag "starrfixestheworld". Then you can comment and tell me how wrong I am! ;)

And here's a picture of me, since there aren't currently unique avatars. As you can see, I am raising my eyebrow at you in a skeptical manner!

Welcome! its always good to find another Leslie :) I am also writing fiction (mostly science fiction).

Always loved that happy pic.

Your pictures aren't working :P

And he's too young to be a Steve, I had to wait 18 years!

Huh. I wonder why they're not working? I uploaded them to imgsafe and copied and pasted the urls. What did I do wrong?

Not sure, go on edit and see what they say. do they have the https: in front of it?

Welcome to Steemit.com @lesliestarrohara here are a few tips:

1.) Try double checking your post after posting to make sure your images work (yours do not).
2.) Use markdown to CENTER images and place the Ordered Lists (1 thru 10) in proper formatting.
3.) Include a Verification link to an Off-Site source verifying your Identity. The link you included at the start of the post isn't working either.

Great to see you here Starr! I, too, feel the need to keep my "worlds" separate. I'm not concerned about keeping my IRL world from my voluntaryist world but more the other way around. I created Jaime Jean a few years ago as a motivation to help me get through divorce, then invoked her again as a means to explore my most deeply-held beliefs and give them a voice without scrutiny from my narrow-minded family and business associates. Someday she and I will both be strong enough to become one ... and then anything will be possible.

I'm really looking forward to hearing your solutions to fixing the world's problems. Hopefully we can share some strategies along the way :)

Thank you, Jaime Jean! I was very much a vocal, "out" voluntaryist before I started to get serious about my fiction and make connections within the science fiction and fantasy writing community. I have met some wonderful people in that community who know a bit about my voluntaryism and (I think) like me anyway. But for the most part I keep my opinions close when I'm navigating that circle. It is very much a "thou shalt not offend" brand of authoritarianism. And I think true freedom would offend a lot of them.

But it's growing wearisome to keep these two identities separate, and this is a step towards allowing them to unite.
