Lily Campbell, VR Developer, Erotic Videographer & Photographer, Intro Post!

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi Steemit! I’m Lily Campbell, and this is my #introduceyourself post! It’s going to be a quick one, I’m just sitting at a bar at XBIZ LA before a party I’m headed to starts.

So- I’m a pornographer! A virtual reality pornographer as well. I also do virtual reality development and lots of other creative things that are non-porn (like photography, videography, directing, producing, speaking, consulting, writing, creative and team direction, picking my nose, etc). I have focused primarily on the adult industry for over 13 years, but I also love being creative/working on non-sexy stuff too- but who’s to say what’s sexy? Is nerding out on crypto sexy? ;)

So a bit about me:

I focus on encouraging folks to embrace themselves and what they like. I love feeling like I’ve helped someone feel even an eensy bit better about themselves. My work in the adult industry has this at it’s core. I love helping my models feel beautiful and natural.

I also love doing empowering boudoir/dude-oir, art, and couples' photography.

I’m at XBIZ LA to speak at this event, “Ethical Porn in Practice”: https://www.xbiz.com/news/232831/mindbrowse-com-sssh-com-to-host-ethical-porn-in-practice-at-xbiz-2018

On the tech side of things- I create VR content, as well as the camera rigs that I film with! I developed rigs from scratch for YanksVR.com, which I am co-owner and Director for. We’re up for multiple AVN and XBIZ awards again this year. How cool!

Aside from that, I also have an art gallery show coming up that focuses on erotic photography and videography with the theme “Empowering Erotic Communication”. I’ll be hanging up prints for the month of January in Portland, Oregon at Sanctuary- https://pdxsanctuary.com

Ok, here’s a link to my personal website with more info about me- gotta go soon- https://lilycampbellmedia.com

Hope ya’ll are awesome. More soon. 204D131E-F1F5-4ADA-8B5B-F7BED667C09B.jpeg

Maybe the VICE SMT is something for you, have you heard about it?

I haven’t- thanks, I will look it up!

Dude-oir is a great term, I was having a conversation with a friend about the concept of DILF (like a MILF but a Dad) last night which led me to perusing some DILF pictures on instragram and elsewhere, and let me just say, a lot of these guys could have used your help ;) You are going to do great here! In addition to the adult/NSFW content that you have, I am sure tutorial posts on videography, rig design/construction, managing photo and video shoots, etc., would go over really well. I am super stoked you are on board! Yay!!!

Thanks Carl! I am so stoked to be here-thanks for your support! Dude-oir is really interesting to me as there is so much creative potential and room for improvement/exploration. So much opportunity for both creative silliness and pure “sexy” too, which can come in many forms. I like showing the “sexy” of each person according to their individual persona/body/how they shine(as well as fun shots that are likely cliché enough to get some chuckles if that fits the nature of the person).

Also- sweet to hear that insight into production posts interest you- that’s in my wheelhouse for sure-yay! Thank you for the great ideas!

Xoxo!
Lily

"DILF!?!" Carlsbad, you're brilliant!

Hi @lilycampbell
I really love your well informed introduction.

Thanks for telling us about yourself.
Steemit is a wonderful social media community, at first, growing up your steemit account may be difficult but don't give up
I’m Kingsley, I’m a graphic designer and a writer.
You're very welcome to steemit. I wish you success. I hope you'll enjoy steemit as time goes on. I'll like to follow you so I can share ideas with you here on steemit. I'm now following you. Feel free to follow me back if you want.
@kingsley-clement

Thanks much. I’m getting my feet wet at least, and Steemit is fun so far! Still learning how all to use it!

Mr @carlgnash sent me your way as i'm on the board of one the new Decentraland districts (The University). If you havent already checked that out, have a look. Decentraland is effectively a VR world that runs on the blockchain (in the same way that steemit runs on a blockchain). Means it is totally free from regulation which is something you may be interested in.

Ooooh! Many thanks- am excited to check it out!

Hey Lily! We have things in common :) I mean aside from the obvious... shh, don't tell anyone, but I pick my nose too! Though I think I've done it on a fetish video before, so maybe its not a secret after all. Glad to see you here + excited for our projects!

I was just thinking of you! It was so good to see you, you badass. I'm really looking forward to talking with you again soon. Xoxo!

Welcome Lily! Certainly not just an ordinary job! Hope you enjoy Steemit!

Thank you!

I've never heard of a VR pornographer before. You must be one of the first! Cool!

I was perhaps one of the pioneers of adult vr, which is odd and neat. My experience is definitely VR from a “figure it out yourself” space. My experience is certainly shared with other folks who scrambled to figure it out too though!

Welcome to steemit, i missed your intro so im going to pick a new one to shower with welcome love!

Hi @kubbyelizabeth- nice to "meet" you last night- thanks for the love!

welcome to steemit!

Thank you!

Yay! More VR people! Welcome Lilly. Funny coming across this after writing an article a few mins about about how VR is for kids. haha.

Anyhoo. Hope you have a good time here. Looking forward to your content.

Haha it is always funny to see dichotomy in life like that!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Hey! It's great to see more VR people come onto Steemit. I'm looking forward to growing and supporting the VR tag category here. Good to meet you via this post.

Thanks much vrrom!

faulkner claims the duty of the artist is to uplift the human spirit. you rok'n roll, girl.

thanks :)

links to more of your work? you've got us all stoked . . .

On the way :) Been busy! Just posted a short trailer on d.tube

such stirrings and bubblings your imagery has aroused--that power we have with our creations to inspire others to create. what a gift to life! and from you.

:)

dropping links into posts seems almost underhand--but perhaps if I preface by acknowledging that my vids are known to make some folks seasick, you won't feel like you were tricked into watching:

whoa, trippy

Welcome to the blockchain @lilycampbell it is good to meet you in a digital way... @unityeagle you must follow lily.... oh and Lily Nerding out on Crypto is hella sexy ;) We are looking forward to your content.

Thanks :)

Looking forward to hearing some more from your time in the industry. It'd be interesting to hear a producer's prospective.

Thanks! I am looking forward to sharing. Feel free to ask any questions you have as well. Am happy to cater posts to general questions folks have for me.

When setting up for a particular scene, what sort of coaching or dialogue do you like to give to your performers? How scripted is your video? i.e. "We'll start with a slow undressing, then move to showing off and posing, then you'll grind on the corner of the table," etc.

Is that a thing? Or do you let the performer do whatever they want?

Good question- I will do a post on this sometime! In short- I play to each model's strengths and desires.

Hi , welcome to steemit!!

Thank you!

so glad you're on steemit! I look forward to what you have to share. Are your prints still up at sanctuary? I'm a pdx'er, I've never gone there but I think I should.

Hi @taddeus, thanks! They'll be up in March. Sanctuary is a great space!

Good to see some sex positive posting. I belong to AASECT (Amercan Association of Educators, Counselors and Therapists) . You would be a good conference speajer candidate imo.

Thanks! I have spoken at a few conferences in the last few months, and enjoy it! I'd love to chat about working with you guys!

Unusual line of work- I bet you have some entertaining stories!

Welcome to Steemit! It's got a steep learning curve, but it's worth it in the long run if you keep putting in the time! Just know that it will take quite a while before you start getting attention and followers. The secret to success? Keep posting high quality content regularly, and make sure to search out other people's posts, read them, and give relevant comments.

Tagging is extremely important. Always make sure to use all five possible tags, and to keep them relevant. You can always just tag something "blog" or "photography" or something else really general (so long as it's still relevant) to fill the quota if you need to- most of your tags should be established ones, though one or two less used ones are fine.

Posting more than four times a day can reduce your potential rewards, as well as turning off potential users. (I aim for one post per day most of the time.) Consistency is important, though, so you should try to post often.

Always make sure to attach a photo to your posts! You should also have a finished profile: Write a description, add a profile picture and a banner- neither needs to be of you, necessarily, but you should have something- and set a website.

There are a lot of really good resources out there for minnows (new users). You should check out the following groups and services, they offer a lot of valuable resources to new users:

@thesteemengine (Check this one out first- they're an extremely supportive group.)
@qurator (These guys offer an excellent liftime upvote to accounts that post consistent quality content.)
@originalworks (Whenever you write an original post, tag this account- they'll verify it's original and upvote you.)
@steembasicincome (Another lifetime upvote option.)
@steemstem (The biggest and best STEM curation group in the game. If you're interested in writing or reading about science, check these guys out!)
@geopolis (A fairly new science curation group, this one's dedicated to the study of the Earth.)
@ocd (A curation group that seeks out undervalued new writers.)

And, again, the biggest thing is just patience. Breakout successes are incredibly rare on Steemit- you've got to find your way there through perseverance and hard work. It takes time, but you'll eventually succeed if you put in the work.

Please feel free to repost this guide on the posts of other minnows you run into!
