Hi Steemit and Dtube,

Would you please follow me on my creative journey? Cheer for me when I'm on the right track. Let me know politely when I drift away.

I am a software developer and have been programming computers since I was 8. I have had a decent career in this field and worked for some big corporations, so I guess I can't totally suck at it. But my dream was actually never to land a high paying job in the corporate world. Computer programming for me is rather a way to express my creativity, and my dream has always been to create something of my own. Working in the corporate world was a way to be safe and boost my ego, but no matter how much I tried to convince myself that this was good, normal and the way things should be, it never really felt right.

I have taken the leap and moved to Bali where I'm building robots. For this, I have created a small makerspace in Ubud. Ubud has a connection to spirituality and cryptocurrencies, and this is a perfect place to be for me and my robot project. Because my motivation is to create a world where we can just be. A world where we don't need to work in order to make money to buy food just to survive. Therefore I'm building a robot that can automatically grow food.

So. I have the hard engineering and problem solving skills to see this through. My challenge is to find whatever I need to stay focused, not procrastinate too much and also not become too obsessed. I have found A.R.T.S. Anonymous, and the document "A.R.T.S. Twelve Traits of the Avoidant Artist" describes me spot on. A sentence in that document reads "Our creative energy has often been diverted into destructive compulsions toward alcohol, food, sex, money, drugs, gambling and preoccupation with the past". And, well, yes this describes me spot on as well. I have those problems and I'm a regular A.A. meeting goer. I would not have had the courage to admit the last part if it wasn't for @jerrybanfield. Welcome to the world of SteemIt! Oh, my goodness, where do I start? haha. I just loved your video. You are so open and seem to be happy to be here on the blockchain! I am part of a Makers Space here in the States called Fablab and I just love it. I am able to make so many things from my GO stickers to 3D printing projects to large woodworking items. I just love the space. I look forward to seeing the future videos you make about your robotics. You do need to know that DTube does not keep your videos long after a payout so don't delete your videos after you upload them to DTube. Keep them saved! We learned the hard way. Anyway, welcome to the community!

One of the things that will help you grow here in the world of SteemIt is to remember that community is the reason this is such an amazing place to be. To get involved in that community you want to read what everyone is writing and you want to comment, sincerely comment on what you have read. This helps to get your name out there and helps people get to know you in addition to your blog posts and videos. Comment, comment, comment is what we encourage to grow in this community. However, being new you probably have a low Steem Power (SP) which means you will have a voting power and low resource credits. (You can find that information here: https://steemd.com/@yournameHERE). The key is, while you are so low in SP, to keep your Resource Credit number to about 80%. Here's a great article by @welcomewagon to explain why: https://steemit.com/welcomewagon/@welcomewagon/80-why-you-need-to-know-it

The same is with your voting power. If you are like we were when we began, we thought the "upvote" was like Facebook's "like" button. It is, but it holds a lot more weight because you are actually paying someone Steem (money) for their work. Because of that, you don't want to push the vote button for every post you read; only vote if it really is good quality and content you truly enjoyed. Hi Micke, nice to meet you here in the Steemiverse! I’ve popped over from Ren and Scott’s post (@xcountytravelers) because they were good enough to introduce me when I first got started here.

Another Steemian who has had the magic dust sprinkled on them is @Abhaya504 who for some reason I feel compelled to introduce you to. Don’t ask me why, it’s probably a cosmic alignment of some kind, but I think you guys might get on and hold a similar world view perspective.
