Macey Tomlin: Advocating for Psychedelic Therapy

in introduceyourself •  8 years ago

Hello Steemit community! My name is Macey, and I have recently joined Steemit so I can become more involved with the Anarchist Community. I have written a couple articles, but in all the excitement, I forgot to give a proper introduction.

About Me

When I was just shy of twenty, I realized the truth of the nature of our government after watching the popular documentary, *Zeitgeist.* Shortly after, I started micro-dosing daily with psilocybin mushrooms. This form of therapy lasted three months. I consider this a vital part of my evolution as an anarchist, and have devoted my life to helping people understand alternative medicine and the positive effects they can have on the body, mind and spirit. I truly believe our minds are eternal libraries, and psychedelics can be the key to accessing that knowledge. I hope you'll join me here! My writings will be focused on alternative therapy, among other topics.

Thanks to one of Terence McKenna’s videos I’ve lately become acutely aware of how real-life newspeak has limited discussion of this topic. The average person simply doesn’t have the vocabulary to discuss “drugs”. There are just “good drugs” and “bad drugs”. And when we’re talking about “good drugs” we don’t even call them drugs, they’re “pills”. And other mood altering substances are addressed by name: alcohol, cigarettes. Everything else is Drugs. And they’re Bad. I’m very conscious of my own ignorance: it wasn’t until you explained the meaning of the word “psychedelic” on Facebook the other day that I discovered what that word really meant. Like anarchy, a word with ancient greek roots... and I studied ancient greek. My old teacher would be shaking his head (he was not an ancient greek). I anticipate learning a lot from your writings.

Your path to anarchy is very similar to me except I didn't micro-dose....I just went head first into a full blown onset. My world and outlook on it changed immediately. I think the therapy is something to really consider, since the changes (for me positive) that occurred were instant. Of course, I had to continue to practice my new understanding in reality with mantras and new routines....but the understanding instantly became available for me.

Fellow anarchist here too! Welcome to the community!

Welcome! I have never experimented with such substances but am eager to read more of your stuff!

microdosing mushrooms can be great for depression as well, Welcome to Steemit!

Hi Macey. I as well started experimenting with such substances at that age. I enjoyed a lot of the accompanying literature; Huxly, Leary, Burroughs, etc.

I added you to my Follow list and am interested in hearing more of your research and experience with psychotropics.

Short & sweet Macey.... 💜🕉💜

Welcome, good to see you at Steemit. I follow you on Facebook, as a result of your postings about your Ayahuasca experience. I look forward to reading your posts, as I also feel these sacred plants and medicines, used correctly, can be healing and liberating for us.

Welcome to Steemit, Macey! It's great to see another female psychedelic enthusiast here and I look forward to reading your future content. Cheers!

Psychedelic therapy is amazing! Acid made me quit cigarettes forever and Mescaline helped my depression.
