Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects. — Dalai Lama

I have introduced myself a bit here. In this post, I am writing in more detail about the Nature lover in me as the founder of Uzhavum Thamizhum people movement. Please read, vote, resteem and share your thoughts.

The stone might vanish into the depth but the ripples travel back and forth and set the water in motion. In January 2017, When Traditional bull bracing sports (Jallikattu) of Tamilnadu was banned, youngsters and students of Tamilnadu had come together and fought the corporate funded Indian and Tamilnadu government to restore our traditional sport and conserve our native bull breeds, the backbone of our village economy.

These protests were shortly over but the seeds of change that it had sown in the hearts of Tamils has sprouted and started flourishing. Some of us are watering the green movement so that the future generation can enjoy the fruits and shadow of it.

On 29–Jan–2017, we started Uzhavum Thamizhum People movement as an apolitical, democratic non profit organization conceived by a group of 6 people in the photo below, highly influenced by Agriculturist Nammalvar and Tamil scholar Thiruvalluvar. As the name suggests, our movement’s main mission was to contribute towards the growth of Agriculture (Nature) and Tamil. Now we have 200+ supporters volunteering for our organization right from 4 year old kid to 85 year old Farmer.

Our first project was "Green Chidambaram". As part of it, We approached the primary school (Sarasu Matriculation, Chidambaram.) where we studied and planted 50 trees around the premise and pathway of the school. This event got major support and people from different work backgrounds volunteered and vested their free time in planning the event, acquiring the saplings, preparing the fence and spreading awareness about our movement.

As the next milestone of "Green Chidambaram", On 12-Feb-2017 we planted around 50 trees in front of our volunteer houses and in different places around Chidambaram.

On 2-Apr-2017, in my sister's wedding we have gifted around 500 saplings of fruits, flowers, herbs to all the guests who had attended the wedding.

On 9-Jul-2017, just at the beginning of monsoon season, we have collected, prepared and dispersed around 50000 seed balls along the banks of rivers, irrigation channels, lakes and highways.

The more awareness that we created, lot of people wanted to contribute towards our efforts in making our town greener. On memorable occasions like wedding anniversary, birthdays, etc., people volunteered to plant more trees in their schools, offices, homes and villages.

Palm trees are considered as a treasure by villagers because it plays a major role in the economy and resources of a farmer. To increase the awareness about the use of palm products and to increase the number of palm trees, we collected, distributed and planted around 1000 palm seeds in and around Chidambaram.

Above all of these, we have planted more than 100 different species of plants, herbs and trees around my house in our journey towards preserving the biodiversity. After we did so, we observed that the number of guests (Quails, Mynas, Sparrows, Squirrels, Humming birds, Garden Lizards, Frogs, Butterflies and Honey bees) has increased.

In future as well, our movement have plans to contribute towards afforestation, biodiversity, Tamil literature, scientific researches, personality development, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and spreading awareness. Please support us in our motive in bringing together people from different expertise and solve the real problems faced by our people and society as a whole in day to day life.
