Spacious swimming pool

Swimming is a popular leisure filler in Australia, especially in hot weather.

In Australia we can see people swimming anywhere, at sea, on the river, at the dam, other than in the pool. Most cities in Australia have a public swimming pool where people can relax and cool down. The entrance fee for most public swimming pools is only a few dollars, quite affordable to the public.

Prahled Iyer manages facilities and clerks in a public swimming pool in North Melbourne, one of Melbourne's downtown areas. The swimming pool is located in an open space, so it only opens during the warmer summer months.

'Our visitors come from a variety of backgrounds, especially from locals, and many children,' said Prahled, who added that the most exciting thing about her job was seeing the visitors who came with the family enjoying time together in the pool.

Jade Wisely is a visitor who came with her young son. He and his two-year-old son enjoyed the warmth of the sun, playing both together and together with the other pool visitors. Jade said, if his son was in the water, he always accompany, making sure that his son is safe.

Prahled said, parents should always keep an eye on children who are in the water at all times and in any part, and that means an adult who can swim must enter the pool with a small child.

People in Australia are encouraged to learn to swim from very small. Most public swimming pools have swimming lessons for adults and children.
