the shadow of german [idealism] - Schwarzwald

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

Hello, fellow users of steemit!

My nom de guerre, as hinted by the title is "Schwarzwald." Even if it changes, which it most likely will eventually since the joke might wear off on me, the change will be reflected on my Twitter (Which, fair warning, mostly consists of politics, leftist hot takes and gaming/anime).

[S H O W _ T I M E !!!]

The name, meaning "black forest" in German, was inspired by the character of the same name from the mech anime "Big O." An iconoclastic seeker of truth with the demeanor of a mad man with references to class struggle and collective memory? "Sign me the fuck up, bro!" I said as I changed my Twitter account to just that months ago.
Since I was already reading up on Hegel (German Idealism with Kant/Fichte) and related philosophies that stem from his works (Marx, Engels, Stirner, etc), I felt the name was appropriate.

[Yes, that Stirner]

Identity is weird, but as long as I'm consistent for a short while, I don't care, personally.
In terms of "material conditions," I am a twenty-four year old man, two years since graduating college and then discovering that it was a scam in terms of actually guaranteeing job opportunities. So now, after just leaving a seasonal job, I am now unemployed and now have the free time to create content, even if it is just writing, and see where it gets me, as writing, out of all of my skills, is what I find the most enjoyment doing with the resources I have.

Otherwise, I would be making independent films, but since I lack the capital for the equipment this is where I stand now.
Let's see where it gets me. It's a fool's journey you can see for yourself. Isn't that great? :)

My mind drifted for a moment as that smiley face lingered. It fluttered to that scene from "Citizen Kane" which Orson Welles, as the titular Kane, starts his newspaper empire with a simple "declaration of principles."
(

)
I wish to make a similar declaration, yet not of principles, as I am merely a lone quasi-journalistic entity of media analysis and nostalgic phenomenology and not Kane's New York Inquirer. Mine declaration is one of simple "intent," just as an actor might do. (My background also consists of theatre acting, so appropriate.)

My intent (for now) is to map the ideological skeleton of my own individual past, which includes peoples/media/philosophies associated. This includes games, film, ideas of self, familial relationships, and above all else: Honesty of my Individual History. This is an idea that is almost unheard of in the age of social media, where one carefully curates their image to be palpable, hiding past traumas, errors, bigotry, etc. For, if I were to lie about personal anecdotes, I would be lying about my own history, and thus any analysis of mine experiences would be without merit.
In that "intent" is my "principle."

As work starts coming through the labyrinthine circumstance that is my personal motivation, I will gladly receive constructive criticism and might even openly debate if I feel strongly enough on my positions if the question is an ideological one.

Sincerely, Schwarzwald
