this is very, very sad. Elephants are such intelligent creatures. They have incredible memories and complex social structures.
We need to find way to financially empower the people who are stuck resorting to poaching. If they had stable employment and did not have to kill these creatures I bet most of them would not.
Correct - most of them would NOT. Because poverty and poor alternatives are major precursors of the poaching. The other being corruption and lack of governance and law enforcement. New good jobs are definitely needed, however there will always be a small percentage of people who will engage in illegal activities... it is in human nature, unfortunately!
