Born on an island, living in mainland and travelling through the world!

Hi!

I'm Diogo, I was born in Azores (Portugal) and I'm currently living in Lisboa.
Here I am, at the most beautiful place on earth, São Miguel, Açores. Yes, my island!

Married, one daughter and 4 felines at home (yes, you read it right, 4!).
All their names were given after the place where they were adopted.
Zamba (from Zambujeira do Mar):

We brought her back with us when we went camping. On the last day, when we were packing the stuff to leave, she came looking for food. After the confirmation from the camp that no one was taking care of her, she took her first car ride with us! The first member of our feline family.

Olivia (from Olivais):

Olivia joined us a year later. Zamba needed some company and we went looking for giveaway cats. The lady who gave us Olivia had a tremendous difficulty giving them because all of them were black! People didn't want black cats. So, the first one, by lucky pick, was her! She thinks Zamba is her mother. Zamba was in the "heat" (didn't had her surgery yet) and, just like spontaneous generation, she assumed - because Olivia was 2 months old - she just had a kitten! And she actually acted like one. Stared taking her inside the wardrobe, she even tried to breastfed her! Off course, she couldn't... But Olivia wouldn't let her go! Great relation they have.

Valentina (from Casais da Valentina) and Svenn (ok, his name is the exception, my daughter named him because of the Moose from the movie Frozen):

Valentina, the grey one, arrived little also. My daughter kept chasing the other ones but they were afraid of her. So this one got the chance to get used to screaming, sudden moves, running around the house from Mariana (my daughter). So, she doesn't run away from her. But cats are territorial and the other two "tolerated" her, but didn't actually accepted her. She was like the "third one". I kept showing resistance to a 4th one. Come one, you know what I mean... 4 is way too much! Until the day I went to a local cafe to buy a cookie for my wife and saw this little one so affectionate abandoned. His brother died on that day and the person told she couldn't keep him. His dogs would have him for breakfast. So, instead of a cookie, I arrived at home with one bag (with the cookie) on one hand and Svenn on the other one. One life saved, two lives saved. They are best friends!

No need to say that it's a party at night with 4 cats at home. You can imagine the surprises we get in the morning... Stuff from out the walls, plants on the ground, broken stuff... you name it!

So, apart from being a soft-heart, I love to travel, nature and photography!

I came across steemit because I just started my journey on the world of crypt-currency. I find this extremely interesting and challenging.

I plan to start posting my vacation trips, future ones, but also the ones I've been doing lately, such as Azores, USA, Spain, Gibraltar, among others. Feline stories may come up once in a while too!
