Here’s How We Introduced Our 387,000 Facebook Fans to Steemit

MintPress News has cultivated an online presence not only via our website but also on popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as we provide watchdog journalism that holds the powers that be accountable. As censorship increases on networks susceptible to influence by the oligarchy, joining Steemit is the natural next step in a world where information is being controlled. So here we are.

There is a mass exodus from Facebook occurring as we type this, with many curators and consumers of independent media ending up here, on Steemit. It’s as if we’re engaged an a chess game with the powers that wish to censor us, one in which they can see the board but we’re playing blindfolded. Instead of playing along, as we have done for years, we’re pushing the board of the table and investing our time and energy on new platforms like Steemit.

We’re confident in all that Steemit has to offer and are excited to carve out a niche here where we can continue to share our investigative journalism with you, uncensored, while also boosting our revenue using the Steem blockchain. That last part remains important for outlets like us - we have an amazing team of staff, writers, graphic designers, and web developers. While social media censorship has stifled the traffic to MintPressNews.com, revenue streams such as Google AdSense have been cut down by a shocking 375% in the last year.
