It usually requires at least an obstacle - obstacles in your case - to help shape us and point us in the right direction. If we allow difficulties to beat us down and submit to them, then we'll see more negatives in life. It's all about taking that first step.
When we accentuate only the positives, life is much more beautiful. Paying it forward certainly is more meaningful. Giving is always better than receiving. It also helps that you've such a loving and supportive wife.

I definitely agree. I spent many years focusing on the negative and was rewarded with more negativity. Amazing how a small shift in our interpretation of things can change our lives so much. I have also found that getting rid of your ego helps.
