For those who are not familiar with who I am and what I'm about doing... Well to cut the long story short, I was born and raised Muslim and I have left Islam for Christianity. I live in Australia and I post about a variety of topics here from religion, philosophy, theology to news, markets and finance plus of course casual stuff every now and then.
I also do daily giveaways known as @msg768's Random Game which I'm working towards automating it all with a script. Not only that, I have also created another account specifically for lotteries. Im one of your new followers. I usually post about cryptocurrencies but i'd be interested to have a discussion with you about your religious change. I see religion only as variation of faith/hope that we will live after death; a feeling or thought humans have had since the beginning of their creation. I can understand why you would think like that, given the confusions and lies that exist in the world. But as C.S. Lewis said, "If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair."
The delusional optimism that you refer to is not limited to the religious people. It applies to everyone and it's not an easy job to break free from seeking comfort and instead seek the truth. If I had a dollar every time someone told me, "If that's who God is, I don't wanna have anything to do with him," I would be a millionaire by now. Sadly, I was one of those people myself but by God's grace, I eventually figured out how absurd and silly my reaction was and how my emotions were blocking my brain from having a deeper look into certain things.
