Fellow steemers,
this account will be dedicated to historic objects, paintings, buldings etc. I will not only post pictures of them, but also tell the story behind the objects. Mostly the story behind an onject leads to a broader historic context and understanding, which I am trying to aquire and present you.
Many pictures will be taken in museums, often from Vienna, Austria, but not exclusivly.
I`d be glad if you would join my travel through the history of humankind.
As an apetizer, I present you these wonderful masks from Pagua Guinea. They were aquired by the Austrian anthropologist and naturalist Andreas Reischek in 1884 on his travels through the South Seas. 1884 btw is the year in which the first president from the Democratic Party (Grover Cleveland) was elected.
I hope this gives you a taste of what is coming up.
