My strange steem tale

​I scratched the side of my head for the third time. I was trying my best to listen and also connect the dots at the same time. It was obvious that Tola was trying her best to explain the whole steemit thing to me.

Steemit. Bitcoins. Steem dollar. Steem...

"Do you understand?" Tola asked.

"Emm, not exactly." I rolled on the bed, replying with haste. "How do I start earning money on steemit?"

Before this story continues, let's go back a little bit so I can explain just who I am and how I got here. Well I finished from the university in 2016,two years ago. I was a student of Mechanical engineering. Then, I didn't consider the income earning aspect of writing. I just wrote frankly because I could write and because I loved to. I wrote articles, poetry, short stories, novels and anything that could be written. As long as there was a reader somewhere, I would always write.

Soon after my graduation, it was time for youth service. As many of you who aren't Nigerians you are wondering what that is. Well, youth service is a compulsory initiative set up by our government where once anyone is done with university or any tertiary education, he or she must serve the nation for one year before seeking or securing a job.

Well during this time the government pays all the youth corpers serving a certain allowance. My folks at home were also supportive so during this time I didn't feel the need to raise much money on my own. Soon enough after service by December last year the table turned and I had to rise up and take up the responsibility.
Here I am right now getting lectured by Tola on steemit and how it is the new place for writers including African writers both in Africa and elsewhere to express themselves and earn at the same time. Free of charge.

Not long after, she successfully explained everything to me. How to earn steem dollar, how it converts to steem power, how cryptocurrency and Bitcoins work and how to convert steem dollar to naira.
