# Hi! I'm an internet refugee!steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi, I'm nielssenm, and I have migrated to Steemit because I have witnessed how my family has been persecuted in YouTube, and they urged me to move so as not to suffer the same fate. I didn't want to leave them, but alas, sometimes you have to make tough choices you don't want to!

So now that I'm here from the "s***-hole" that is YouTube, as Trump likes to call places like that, I live here as a lonely immigrant, and I spend my free time making all sorts of efforts now to both raise funds, as well as plead with the Steemit authorities to ensure they too can come to the Land of Opportunity so they too can have a better life!

Now the Serious Version

OK, this introduction will be a bit long for the tastes of some people, but when I do something, I do it 100%!

I have never actually had my own YouTube channel, as I witnessed how YouTube was going... It was just more and more noise, with trolls unfortunately clogging up the comments section, as well as very immature people who you can find on virtually any channel.

Just reading the comments section is enough to make you lose your faith in humanity. Not to mention the arbitrary YouTube censorship! I don't trust YouTube anymore, and believe that it's a platform that is becoming increasingly politicized to the point where it is infecting absolutely everything.

But here on Steemit, that hope is restored!

With Steemit, you can write, blog, comment and post on what you honestly care about! Not only that, there's inventive to care both about what you write, as well as to actively care about helping others out, as well as to keep garbage out. Most importantly, there are measures to self-regulate.

So, I'll now answer some FAQs...

What's your background?

Well, I prefer to remain anonymous for now, as I am very new, but anonymity does encourage me to be open about who I really am. As Oscar Wilde said "Give a man a mask and he will speak the truth". I figure I might as well share my human side in this introduction post.

I come from Ireland, and I have grown up with a rather untypical background.

I struggled with high-functioning autism as a child and teenager. It forced me to really learn and master the most basic human functions most take for granted: body language, eye contact, empathy, making a conversation flow, as well as socializing in various contexts.

With a considerable amount of effort, I had managed to master such capabilities. I even developed a passion and flare for languages... I learned Spanish, French, Italian, German and Swedish (not totally fluently of course).

After finishing school, I was fed up with home, felt that school didn't really prepare me for the world, and I needed to get away, in order to branch out my own identity some more, and I felt I needed to see the world.

Luckily, I received a family trust fund, with which I went travelling for 5 years around Europe and parts of Africa. I also volunteered with numerous projects, and worked odd jobs to earn a bit of money on the go too. I hitch-hiked, got into sticky situations, wasted money here and there. I had highs, as well as lows. Won great friends, as well as lost some.
Travelling is not all romantic, but it does help you to develop a hard stomach (both literally and figuratively). It also helped me to perfect the languages I already knew.

At the same time, I took advantage of learning online. With no desire to go to college, and being fed up with academia, I used my financial resources to study topics I'm passionate about, and to help me to discover worlds I never thought possible!

What do you love? What do you always talk about?

They say that you shouldn't be a jack of all trades... Unfortunately, that's what I turned out to be! hahaha!

To be honest, these topics aren't very sexy at all for most people, but I am passionate about economics, monetary history, economic cycles and financial literacy. Also, I run my own online business, and am in the process of starting a second one, so I love anything to do with business and disruptive, innovative ways of doing business.

I work in email marketing, and helping small businesses to attract and build their own audiences, so they can essentially create their own market.

I also have other more personal interests which I really care about, which for the time being, I won't be sharing. I might however, once I become more comfortable here.

I intend to make this a place where I can express myself too, like if I have any insights on what is going on in the world, then I will share them here, along with the occasional witty one-liner, just to lighten up people's day. However, I promise not to spam my following with constants posts.

What do you intend to post on your channel?

Anything to do with...

  • Business, as well as any tech that relates to business.

  • Finance and financial literacy dumbed down, and share the discoveries, shenanigans as well as the opportunities I have learned about.

  • The occasional bit of humour, because we all need to lighten up, especially me!

  • Economic cycles, to give you further perspective on how the economy REALLY is, how it's changing, and I provide hints on how you can take action to protect and look after yourself.

  • Any insights and my take I may have on passing social scenes and events (but not on absolutely everything).

  • Any travelling spots I can recommend (having travelled 5 years myself, I like to keep in touch with the travelling community!)

  • Counter-arguments to the modern socio-political Sacred Cows

  • Any Nigerian business propositions that I have been researching and like the sound of. I have discovered two so far, and if you'd like to be part of one of them, then please private message me with details of your bank account...

... For anyone that didn't notice, that was a joke!

  • I will also be occasionally sharing others work that relates to the above (with full reference and credit of course! You're welcome!)

What are your views on the world?

I don't look at the world through rose-tinted glasses. I am more concerned about the harm people could do through good intentions then through evil intentions, as the former is not as easy to monitor or pre-empt.

Just because someone is brilliant and intelligent doesn't mean someone is necessarily wise. Intellect and wisdom are not one and the same. Just because you have good intentions does NOT mean that something is a good idea.

To sum up my views, I'm quite libertarian (but without being crazy about open borders). I believe in the free market and capitalism, and that most socialist ideals and well-intentioned ideas to make the world a better place actually make things worse, to the point where the cure is worse than the disease.

It's one thing to make laws and rules to deter dishonest behaviour and people, but quite another to make laws based around mere sentimentality and ideology.

I really love the design of the US Constitution, and how the Founding Fathers of the USA put together the means for man to have liberty, and at the same time put plenty of constraints, checks and balances on the governing powers...

Rather than trying to "make a difference" or "make the world a better place", I place value on wisdom, and to focus on becoming more conscious and aware myself, and then allow that to infect what I do and what I say, which will then have an effect on the world.

I believe having a great sense of humour is a great anecdote to all the great struggles in life.

That's all for now! Thank you for taking the time to get to know about me. I look forward to getting to know you too, and to hopefully establish a great community spirit here!
