Nice introduction. Personally I am glad, that you are also a python developer :)

Maybe it's worth to mention, that there is a Python Library to Steem called Piston: https://github.com/xeroc/piston - maybe you will find it useful at some point :)

    For now I just try to learn it - I have been working on the web interaction using urllib and jason and I'll be moving now to DBs (https://www.coursera.org/learn/python-databases/home/welcome). But at work I work with DBs and Business Intelligence :)
