You did not go direct to state your name but narrate what you do, to me, it is better.
I feel that if one did not introduce himself by saying my name is this or that, and he does something that will interest people, the public will start to be eager to know the name of the person who is doing wonderfully well. When the name is mentioned, it will register properly in the minds of people.
