A Little Introduction + TreeTuesday

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Dylan and I am a photographer, adventurer and nerd that currently lives in Michigan. I grew up in beautiful Southern California, but moved to Michigan four years ago to make video games! During the week, I am your everyday game designer, but in my free time I like to fix up my house with my wife or shoot photographs on random adventures. I plan on posting photos here on steemit of my travels, adventures and anything interesting that I stumble across. I have thousands of photos to share and hope that they can bring you all some entertainment and happiness! Don't hesitate to ask me anything or request photos of anything specific and I'll see what I can find. My amazing sister @jayjayjeffery convinced me to join the steemit community, so if you have a spare minute, I recommend checking out her stuff!

Asylum Lake Preserve

This tree Tuesday post is brought to you from the amazing Asylum Lake Preserve. My wife and I love to take our dog for hikes and this is in my opinion one of the best local trails around if you're looking for trees. During fall it provides breathtaking colors that honestly make you feel like you're in some kind of postcard. When you reach the edge of the lake and see those reflections, it's hard not to stop and stare for a few hours.

Welcome to steemit, Dylan! Really nice pictures you have there!
I checked out your profile, because I'm a stalker that way...LOL I see you're in Kalamazoo, one of my sisters lives in Kazoo. I live in the middle of the Upper Peninsula.
One of the keys for being successful here on steemit is being consistent with your posting. Another is to find a community of people on here who like the same stuff that you would like to post about. You mostly find that through the tags. Using the right tags for your material will help you get noticed.
And above all, have fun on here!

Thanks Amber! Profiles are there to stalk haha. Kalamazoo is a pretty awesome place to be, but the UP is pretty spectacular too!
I’ll try to be consistent and find where my posts will be most appreciated. I’m sure it will take some time to figure it out.
Ill do my best to have fun. Seems like that should be easy!

Welcome!! Jayjay is good people! We are delighted to have you on too!

I'm a native Texan, but just moved to MI near Detroit this last fall.

The colors are indeed gorgeous!!

Peace

Thanks! JayJay is the best and I'm really glad she brought me here.

How is MI treating you so far? I'm excited to share more of the MI colors and seasons here, because they really are incredible.

Good post, very well written. Thanks for sharing :) Keep on Steeming.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I will definitely continue Steeming =)

Welcome to Steemit, a world of creativity. Hope to see your great works soon

Thank you! I'll be posting more soon and I look forward to your words of inspiration!

Oh, no, is it fall up there already??

The leaves are just starting to turn! I guess I probably should have mentioned that these shots are from last fall. New person mistake, my bad. I'll post new shots once the leaves' colors really come out again!

Hello Panman and welcome to Steemit.

You have written a superb introduction with the right tags, colorful HD pictures and made a killer first impression.

Since you are a photographer and now a Steemer you need to know this:

The optimal picture size is the following -> 672x402 <-

Should you have more questions I will gladly answer them for you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for the heads up and kind words! I'll be sure to scale them down to 672x402 next time.

I didn't even know that!

Neither did I. An here, I've been posting my large file pictures...

glad I'm not the only one ( :

Gorgeous shots! And welcome to steemit!

That orange is super intense. It makes for some interesting contrast there.

Looking forward to more of your photos, Dylan!

Thanks! I'm very excited to be here.

The contrast of the vibrant colors is one of my favorite things about the fall colors. I look forward to posting as often as I can!

Great pics! I'll be following.

Thanks, you have some really nice pics as well!

Welcome to Steemit! :)

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Steemit! I've followed you and your sister. Thanks for the tag of her account. I'm very interested in homesteading, so I'm looking forward to seeing her content as well.

There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:

https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)

https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)

https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)

Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.

Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.

Verifying your identity is very important because it will get you more support and people will trust you more. The best way to verify is to link back to your Steemit account by using another public social media account. For example, I posted my Steemit articles from here through my Twitter account. Another person posted their Steemit information on their Facebook account. Some people will even post a video of themselves writing out their account information since that cannot be Photoshopped. The more famous a person is or the more valuable their content is, the more important it is that they verify. If a new account falls within those two categories and fails to verify, it may get blacklisted.

Again, welcome, and I've followed you! If you have any questions about getting started, look me up on the chat site.
