Hey Steemit!
My very first post on Steemit, this is exciting :)
I hope it’s the beginning of a long adventure.
So before anything else, please let me introduce myself.
My story and why I quit my comfortable 9-5 job
I grew in Lyon, France. I spent 19 fantastic years in this city. At the age of nineteen, though, I decided it was time for me to embark on a new adventure. It was time to get out of my comfort zone, discover new places and meet new people.
So after 1 year of University in Lyon, at the age of 19, I moved to Montreal, Canada. I enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration at HEC Montreal.
I spent 3 incredible years in Montreal:
• I met my best friends there.
• I had the chance to travel to fantastic places: Quebec, Boston, New York, Toronto, etc.
• Studied interesting subjects and got challenged intellectually.
After graduating in June 2012, I decided to move back to France, in Paris. I worked there for almost 4 years in the financial sector.
After 2 years working as Consultant, I started to feel bored. I got tired of my routine. I felt like every day was the same. While I enjoyed a very comfortable situation, I actually did not care about my job. Undoubtedly, I couldn’t see myself living like this for the next 45 years.
So I started studying the different possibilities I had to design the most meaningful life possible.
I still remember the feeling I experienced when I finished Tim Ferris’ The 4 Hours Workweek. I was SO excited: This guy, Tim Ferris, had theorized what a rich life meant to me, and even better, he laid out exactly how to achieve it. So… I decided to become an online entrepreneur. To me, it's the way towards more freedom, more money, the possibility to connect with like-minded people and the best way to help others with my skills.
Transition to a nomad lifestyle and my quest for a rich life
All of that led me to quit my job a few months ago.
It was time to change my life!
More precisely, it was time to focus on building my online business.
I created my site (https://pierrebastille.com), and I’m currently working to develop an audience of ambitious people interested in online business. I want to help people build stunning WordPress websites with all the necessary features to grow an online business. It’s my mission.
My goal is to help more than 1,000 entrepreneurs in the next 3 years.
The first step I took toward achieving that target was building a free email course to help people get started. This free email course explains the entire process of creating your own amazing website to kick-start your online journey. You can check the course’s details here.
A few weeks ago a new opportunity arose as well. It led me to co-found a startup with 2 talented friends. We are working on something very ambitious that could have a huge impact. I’m thrilled to be a part of such a big project, and I can’t wait to face and overcome new challenges. More details on that in the future.
In the end, I’m really pride I took action and actually made things happened. My life did change in the last few months. Even if I don’t have lots of income right now, I’m living exactly the life I dreamt about.
As I’m writing this, I’m wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flop in an amazing co-working space (The Hive) on the 21st floor of a tower located in Wan Chai, in Hong Kong.
Oh yes, I'm in Hong Kong because my girlfriend is working here!
The best part of all that? I’m so motivated and passionate about the work I do every day. That’s an incredible feeling!
Why Steemit?
There are several reasons why I decided to join the Steemit adventure:
1. The incentive to write. I’ve never been a good writer. And since I’m French, writing in English is even a greater challenge. But I need to become a proficient writer if I want my online business adventure to be successful. Because you can earn money writing on Steemit, it’s the perfect system for me to get to write consistently. Even when I don’t feel like it.
2. Be part of something new that could be a revolution. Steemit might be a game-changer. Its system is groundbreaking. I’m 26, and unfortunately, I’ve never had the chance to be an early adopter of past Internet revolutions (Facebook, Youtube, etc.). This time, I can be at the forefront of something new, innovative, that could change the way people write content.
3. Because of its revolutionary system, I expect to read amazing content on Steemit. Indeed, because everyone is interested in earning money, trolls won’t survive on this site. People are encouraged to produce amazing content to get significant amounts of money. So… I expect articles to be top-notch on Steemit.
All that to say, please to meet you Steemer!
Talk to you soon,
Pierre
