Hello, Steemit. I've found you! Just me, saying hi.

Howdy Folks,

My name is Eliot. I am super excited about the prospect of getting involved on Steemit!

I am a freelance writer by day so I have spent my fair share of time around the reddits and mediums of this world. I have recently been doing a bit of work with cryptocurrency and blockchain companies as the technology fascinates me.

I am currently halfway through the book Blockchain Revolution which led me to find Steemit. The use of blockchains could be so powerful in my kind of work whether it is with Steemit or for smart contracts and payment issues I face.

Working with companies all over the world from New Zealand to Dubai to the UK currency exchanges and payments are a nightmare and dramatically reduce earnings because everybody wants their cut!

Still waiting for the day a client pays me in Bitcoin… can’t be too far away, I proposed it the other day to fall on deaf ears. And that was from a friggin cryptocurrency startup!

Here's where life gets fun. I am a bit of a travel addict so I have built my life in a way that gives me the freedom to do what I like and travel while having my dream job. (But mainly not have to be in an office 9am Monday morning.) I spend much of my winters in France writing and producing content from ski resorts. My summers are now free to go where I like and earn money by opening my laptop lid.

Anywho, I am here to write, debate, complain about all sorts of things from travel to tech to sport and anything worthwhile. (Not Justin Beiber).

Also, you can ignore most of what I have said above as I am probably goofing off on my skis.

Am I a freelance writer or a freelance ski bum?

Who knows.

I don’t have to make my mind up, and you can’t make me. (I hope)

Welcome, Eliot. What kind of writing is your speciality? Or are you quite diverse?

I used to do a lot of creative writing when I was younger, but don't devote nearly so much time to it now. I still consider it a hobby, though, and I love the feeling when I'm deep in writing something, where it feels like my consciousness has gone to another place and something/someone else is channelling the words into my mind.

Hey Michelle.

I work a lot in the ski industry (unsurprisingly, travel guides and the like) but have branched out to other sectors. I spend most of my time content writing and working on marketing projects. Pays some bills that way. I would love to spend more time focusing on comedy pieces, one day soon maybe. I keep planning to get a book together.

Whatever I work on there is still a great feeling of accomplishment when publishing! Have you written much recently? I'd love to know more about where people and yourself find inspiration for writing?

I haven't written a great deal lately, sadly - certainly not fiction-wise. I still try, occasionally, but most of my ideas seem to meander off nowhere and then fizzle out.

One thing I do quite regularly is blog for my hometown's amateur dramatics group, of which I'm a member, so naturally write about acting, theatre, the arts, etc.

I'm also very interested in mysticism and the occult, which sometimes inspires me to put my thoughts onto paper (or the computer screen.) Sometimes in a philosophical kind of way, sometimes in a more imaginative form.

Loved the post. Looking forward to more content! Hope you have a good time here.

Hey! Welcome to Steemit. Why do you call yourself a prince? It sounds like you've made it possible to pursue your passions. That's great! Few people do what they really love. I'm in the process of getting off the 20 year IT hamster wheel to do what I really love (residential security and private investigation).

There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:

https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)

https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)

https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)

Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.

Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.

Verifying your identity is very important because it will get you more support and people will trust you more. The best way to verify is to link back to your Steemit account by using another public social media account. For example, I posted my Steemit articles from here through my Twitter account. Another person posted their Steemit information on their Facebook account. Some people will even post a video of themselves writing out their account information since that cannot be Photoshopped. The more famous a person is or the more valuable their content is, the more important it is that they verify. If a new account falls within those two categories and fails to verify, it may get blacklisted.

Again, welcome, and I've followed you! If you have any questions about getting started, look me up on the chat site.
