Hello Princessjuliet. Steemit is like a platform for writers or content developers who get to write and post on different aspects like nature, food, art, photography and then other writers who go through the content would upvote it if they like it. Each upvote carries a certain amount of money. At the end of 7 days, you'll be able to cash out your money. The key is to follow others and get others to follow you by posting really interesting content.
