Dial Up - A month to introduce myself

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago  (edited)

Honestly I've had absolutely no idea where to start with this, I don't really know what I am going to be doing here, as usual the 9-5 is a 6-8 in reality, enough time to cook a meal in the evening? Perhaps. Mostly not, but thats fine Deliveroo and UberEats are always there when you need them right. Why is that even relevant, not sure, I suppose because on the subject of time I pretend not to have much which is why this introduction has taken a month but its the weekend now so no excuse.

The above format must indicate I grew up on the Internet, MSN Messenger to be precise, I did briefly dabble in some Yahoo chatrooms as well. I feel like I've come a long way since the days of running home from school, then running an RJ11 cable from one room to another via a hallway. I had to confirm the cable type on google because, so here is an image:

A couple of formalities before proceeding to make a dial up connection, the first being making sure no one was using the landline, the next being to inform the entire family that they cannot use the phone for the next hour. Finally you're on to MSN, you know 20% your contacts, the rest are Alien's, are they even the same age as you? Their Display picture indicates so and you met them through another Alien so they must be legit!

Anyway, 10+ years later here I am again talking to the internet and not entirely sure who will see it. Admittedly I haven't done enough research to confirm whether there is a standard introduce yourself approach, if there is something missing here please do call me out? Any questions...
