Hi, I am GiGi, and I am a one week Steem veteran! Well, maybe veteran is a bit overstated. I do feel I have learned heaps and heaps about this mysterious platform called Steem, but in reality, I have barely scratched the surface.
A little about me: I love guns, I love shooting them, and shooting things with them (not humans, just critters and cans and such).
I live in Montana and really LOVE the outdoors. I am pretty much constantly outdoors, hiking, backpacking, shooting shit, fishing hunting, rockhouding (I heart rocks!) and collecting flowers and herbs and such.
So what have I learned? A very valuable lesson. People can pour their hearts into Steem and not get very much reward. And others can treat Steem as a little hobby and get TONS of rewards. The point? Just post what you love, be yourself, and maybe you will get some rewards too.
What is the point of chasing whales? What is the point of trying to ride the trends? If you try to hard you really won't get far because you will develop a condition called Steemit burnout.
Alas! You can avoid this burnout if you just stick to your passions and enjoy sharing those passions with others. I love ghost towns, natural wonders, Montana history, wildflowers, and guns (this, you know). So if I stick to what I love, then it is less of a possibility to get burnt out.
Also, if you stick to what you love, eventually others will notice, because you are being GENUINE and AUTHENTIC. You are also probably posting QUALITY content because you are truly engaged of what you are posting. Trying too hard makes you look like a freakin POSER. Don't be a Steemit poser!
See ya!

You put that really nicely, to do what you love and to do what you do best. I think that's a great motto for life in general.

Nice post. I think it's hard for people because of the very small number of users right now. For me I do a lot of sailing. But there doesn't seem to be that many people with the same interest on here (yet). People need to give it time and the people with the same interests will eventually show up. And some of them will become whales and be able to upvote the content they like. It will just take time.

Hi GiGi,
Real nice post and helpful to me as well. I joined a few moments ago and still looking around trying to make sense of it all. I can see there is huge potential here and it is so good to have as much encouragement and help as possible. I hope I can get to the point where I can be of encouragement as well. Thankyou GiGi!!!
