My tongue split

I'm celebrating my 3 year splitversary soon so I thought I would talk about it a little to my steemian friends.

I decided to do this blog in the style of Q&A using questions I'm asked most often. Feel free to ask more in the replies below! 😄

Q: How did you do that?
A: I saw a professional body modification artist that scalpeled and then sutured my tongue

Q: How badly did it hurt?
A: The actual procedure wasn't horrible, keeping my jaw wide open was the hardest part. The healing afterwards was atrocious. I had trouble sleeping, I would wake up every few hours in a pool of my drool. Eating was particularly challenging. Anything cold that came in contact was unbearable. I found out I could eat tomato soup by shoving a giant straw down my throat, and then later on I started dropping ramen noodles straight down my throat. Like a duck.

Q: How long does it take to heal?
A: It takes a week for the stitches to come off, and then another week for the soreness and swelling to go back down.

Q: Won't it grow back?
A: There is possibility of regrowth. I had to separate my tongues during the first week to avoid them healing together. I have about half an inch of regrowth now.

Q: Are you planning on getting piercings on your tongues?
A: I had piercings on each sides before getting my tongue split, and put them back in afterwards. I did remove them a few months later because they were restricting my movements.

Q: Can you move them separately?
A: Yes, I can clap my tongues together and twist them around separately.

Q: Is there a procedure to get your tongues stitched back together?
A: There is such a procedure. It's a harder heal than the original split, and it will shorten your tongue a bit. You might need to take speech therapy afterwards to get used to it.

Q: Does your split affect your speech?
A: I had a bit of a lisp the first couple weeks, but I got used to it fairly quickly and my speech went back to normal

Q: What does your boyfriend think about it? How does it affect performance in bed?
A: My boyfriend likes it a lot lol

Q: Why did you get it done?
A: I found it aesthetically pleasing. A few of my friends had it done and they all said it was fun to have.

Q: Do you think you'll ever regret it?
A: I think I would've regretted not having it done

Q: Would you do it again?
A: In a heartbeat
