My journey on getting approved is finally over

Introduction:

Hello Steemit users, my name is Robert. I am writing this as a "journal" while waiting for Steemit to approve my registration. I have been a steemit user before (when it launched), I didn't had much success then, my english was awful, my social skills were awful too and also the platform wasn't so big back then. Then I started moving on with my life, forgetting about Steemit.

I use to check cryptocurrency news every-day (I invested a little in some coins, but that's not the subject of this post) and I have heard about Steemit growing and growing, I've seen it on coinmarketcap, I've seen youtube videos about it then I was thinking "why not give it a try again? let's check their website, let's see how are they doing now" and I did. What I have seen firstly was the almost the same Steemit.com interface as back then when I first tried this, I do not have something with that interface, but it's more friendly to bloggers than normal people. So I didn't had the best opinion about it, but then I heard about something called "dtube" which is a youtube "replica" but running on the blockchain and that for me sounds so good to be true. I was like, ok, but how can you save a video on a blockchain? Not that would be impossible, but that would require a huge amount of hard disk space. I then investigated a bit and found about the IFPS protocol and I was impressed by how much steem evolved since I first tried it.

So after seeing how it evolved I was sure I want to give it another try and see how it goes. I tried remembering my old account but I was getting "Wrong password" on every single attempt. So I just created another one as I'm almost sure that the old account had pretty much nothing on it as I was so bad at cryptocurrencies, english, and almost everything, nothing to lose if I have to create a new account. I also found about Steepshot(instagram "replica") which for me sounded good because my girlfriend likes taking pictures of sunsets and her cat(she's doing it with her phone, but in my opinion they are still good) so I thought I can make her join me on this journey. And I did it. We both registered on 27/01/2018 and started our "journey" to get approved on Steem. If you want to check her posts/photos out I will tag her and the end of this post.

FIRST DAY(27/01/2018):

I had a lot of hype on my first day of waiting, as I imagine everyone has. I thought that we will get approved on the same day that we registered, but I was wrong. I started watching videos on dtube about the platform and sharing them with my girlfriend, we both liked this idea of a decentralized "social media".

SECOND DAY(28/01/2018):

Same as the day before, I was hoping that this is the day we get approved. Still no luck, this day passed without any email from steemit. But that was not a lost day because I found a lot more about platforms based on Steemit. I found about dlive (alternative for twitch) which seemed pretty good, but not my domain, I don't have enough guts to talk in front of the camera, I loved if I were able to, but I'm not. But I just liked the idea that it exists, for others, for the Steemit community. I then found abount utopian-io(I like it, specially because I like doing programming and would love to learn from open source projects more about blockchain programming, as I never did that, who knows, maybe one day I will be programming something for the Steemit community, well, if I can understand and learn blockchain programming), busy(which I liked even more than utopian). Remember when I said I find Steemit.com interface a little hard for users other than bloggers? Well, Busy is the thing that told me "psst, wanna know a secret? We have a easier-interface for non-blogger users". I like it so much, it's so easy for me to navigate now. The next thing I found was dMania. This one was the platform I loved, because most of my time I browse 9gag and sometimes post things on it. I love memes. I could live eating memes. I think dMania will be the platform where most of my time will go out of all Steemit platforms.

THIRD DAY(29/01/2018):

It's 5PM local time and neither of us got any email. I didn't do much things this day related to steem like before because I found almost everything I want about it, the thing that stops me now is the account that it's not yet approved. I hope it will get approved by the end of the day but I lost some of the "WOW MAYBE THIS IS THE DAY" hype as I've read some posts where it took over a week for other people (for example, @kathieletalis who approved time was of 1 week and 6 hours). So until I get approved I will not have much to do as I know everything I need for now. Faster approval would definitely help in making steem bigger as I think many just give up when you have to wait that much for a registration, however I will not be one of them, I still have hope that my approval is not far away.

UPDATE:

We've got our accounts approved after ~30 mins (around 5:30 PM local time) of the last update. We hope we'll have a good time here!
