Hayter Stanley William (born Stanley William Hayter, born December 27, 1901 London - intelligence May 4, 1988 Paris) - English painter, graphic artist and theorist. The founder of the Paris School of Modern Graphics Atelier 17 (Atelier 17).
Coming from a dynasty of artists, Hayter began his career in the oil industry and only then became one of the cutting-edge graphics of his time, continuously experimenting with texture, color and new techniques. He was one of the first surrealist artists, his innovation is associated with the area of engraving. Heiter spent most of his life in Paris, where in 1926 he opened the famous experimental studio Atelier 17, in which artists from all different nationalities worked - Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Yves Tanguy. During the Second World War, the studio moved to New York, but in 1950 again settled in Paris.
