Hello world :P

I'm a bit new here but as I understand it, upvote payouts work like this:
half of the money a post makes goes to the upvoters, more steem goes to the first voter than the second and more to the second than the third and so on. However, voting at 2 seconds on a post from a big account won't ensure a large payout because between 0 and 30 minutes a portion of the curating rewards go to the author of the post according to the time. At 27 minutes almost all goes to the voter but at 3 minutes almost all goes to the poster and at 15 minutes it is split evenly. All payouts are paid in steem power. Steem power also has a large impact on payouts. Upvotes from accounts with more steem power mean more, you may notice you can have 30 upvotes for $0.20 but one more vote gives you two steem dollars. That would be because the 31st voter had a lot of steem power. Therefore, people with more steem power also receive more in curation rewards. As a newcomer, almost all steem will be made by posting with little to nothing coming from upvoting. Lastly, voting on everything also does not work. With each vote you make, the value of your vote is worth less. If you vote is worth 1 cent at 100% power. Your 25th vote in a single day, is worth .5 cents. Every vote decreases your voting strength by 2% I believe and it resets every day if I'm correct. Hope this helps.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
