A wild witch has appeared! Good thing she's friendly, I think?

Hello Steemit! First post and of course my introduction!

How Did You Get Here?

My roommate, @bluebeaniejean , has been using this site for a little bit now and recommended that I do so as well. Mostly for DLive since I already stream. After listening to him talk about it, getting some tips and tricks and feedback and such from him, and giving myself time to think I decided it was time to sign up for myself and see what happens.

Sharing With the Rest of the World

There are many things I enjoy for one reason or another, and after consideration I'd like to use Steemit to share that with people. And beyond sharing, I'd like to see what others have to share as well. To network with people and learn and grow from and with them as I hope that people will do so from my posts as well.

I plan to start streaming soon via D-live and sharing posts on my cooking recipes here that were previously being shared by my roommate before I got my own account, for starters. Where it goes from there we'll see!

What Else Is There?

I'll be 28 here in a few weeks and currently live in Kansas with @bluebeaniejean who I have known for over a decade. He's my best friend, co-worker and business partner and I wouldn't have it any other way. Together we own 3 jumbo rats named Zevran, Dorian and Iron Bull along with an orange cat Tobias Hawke (Toby or toe beans), his brother and our black cat Warden Inquisitor Crow (or just Crow for short), and our lovely husky named Fenris.

I prefer either neutral they/them/theirs or female she/her/hers pronouns, and while for now my employment situation is sketchy at best I am trying my best. I'm a witch by practice, I read tarot cards, and as I mentioned before I love video games and cooking among many, many other interests.

Wait, You're a Witch?

Yes. Or Pagan, depending on what umbrella term you prefer to use. But I do practice witchcraft. The real world stuff, not the crazy pop culture stuff. It's a personal belief system similar to Judaism and the like, and I started practicing back in late 2015 so I'm still just kind of a baby at it all but just over two years has taught me a heck of a lot.

I've also been practicing tarot since 2008, long before I was a witch. The two aren't inherently linked, even if many witches do practice tarot there are just as many non-witch tarot readers out there so it's just one of those things. Presently I own 3 decks and my roommate owns 3 that I borrow from time to time for readings. Those would be Tales of the Mystical Cats, Homestuck, and Steampunk on my end and Happy Tarot, Tarot of Bones, and Tarot Apokalypsis for my roommate. I have deck envy something awful, though, and as soon as I can there are several other decks I'd like to get my hands on.

So What's This About Video Games?

I started gaming in the mid 90's when my dad bought me a N64 system. Typical Legend of Zelda, Pokemon Stadium, Harvest Moon, Banjo Kazooie, all that jazz. Moved up to PS2 and a lot of JRPG games from the Tales of series to Atelier Iris and games of that kind. And then over to xbox where I picked up Fallout, Mass Effect and Dragon Age series as well as Skyrim.

I've never been much of a PC gamer, but that's changed in recent times. Games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Sims have had me spending more time with computer games as well as more recent trends like Fortnite and The Darwin Project when it had its open beta weekend. I even play ARK from time to time, because who doesn't like getting murdered by dinosaurs all the time?

You Cook?

Yes, I do. Since about 2006 I've been experimenting with cooking. I mostly do desserts, but I can do savory from time to time. I've experimented and had my failures, but I've also had successes. I also take in as many cooking shows as I can - Chopped, The Great British Baking Show, Iron Chef America, all of it. I never went to culinary school, but that doesn't mean I can't be a wonderful home baker.

My mother wasn't much of a cooking person, she always joked she'd rather go hungry than do all the dishes that came with cooking a meal. But my grandmother was, and when she couldn't pass on her own cooking knowledge to my mother or my aunt since neither was interested she passed it on to me instead. I have a vast library of her personal recipes, often handed to her from her mother or grandmother, and while I haven't tried them all it's absolutely on my bucket list.

I'm glad she was always such an encouragement in my life, too. She's the one who started the game with me where when we'd watch a baking show she'd pause it at certain points and see what I could come up with. How to use the basket ingredients for Chopped or what my signature bake would be for The Great British Baking Show. And now I just do it for myself so that I can continue to push my boundaries into new places.

Where Else Are You?

  • My Personal Tumblr for all things random, funny, and generally in all categories.
  • My Witchcraft Tumblr for all the witchy things I do over on tumblr.
  • My Flight Rising Tumblr to just collect aesthetic things related to my Flight Rising clan.
  • My Flight Rising Account that is of course linked to the tumblr I posted up above.
  • Over on Weasyl where I post random writings from time to time and such, just be warned some content is NSFW.
  • Twitter where I tweet out when I'm going live for streaming and such
  • Etsy where I sell my tarot readings for people, among other things. I also co-own this with @bluebeaniejean :)
  • And on Discord as Sigilmancy#1858

Thank You All So Much!!

Obviously a big thank you goes out to @bluebeaniejean for recommending me here and helping me get set up, settled and familiar with this place.

Also to @flauwy for a seriously expansive set of video tutorials that are super helpful for understanding how Steemit works and all related fields.

Additional Questions?

I tried to cover what I could, but if anyone has any other questions please feel free to ask down in the comments section. And please, if you know anywhere else around Steemit I should check out let me know! Until then, I'll see you guys when I post recipes here and when I start streaming next week. Much love <3

Welcome to the community Sigilmancy. Great presentation.
I do not believe in Tarot (I am a scientist), but I do read them from time to time.

???

The reason is that I found the cards to be an excellent way to talk to oneself. They guide me into paths that I would not think about by myself: When I am a little lost, not knowing how to take the best or right decision.I Pick up a three card, and try to interpret, it just gives me new perspectives. I took some great decisions in my life like this!
I am sure many Steemians will enjoy wour writings, so a warm welcome to the community.

Thank you for the warm welcome ^^

That is certainly an interesting take on tarot, and from my experience many people get readings or read for themselves because they are seeking guidance in some form so that's not an entirely out there way to look at it. I hope the cards will continue to guide you one way or another to good things in your life as they have done in the past.

Welcome to steemit @sigilmancy :D Great presentation

Thank you :D

Welcome to Steem! I look forward to your posts!

Thank you! After sleeping on it through the night I have a good line-up in store so I hope you'll enjoy them :D

waves Hello!

Hi rae! Yay, you're here :D

Welcome, you are certainly a very interesting person.
I find Wicca, druids, are anything that is about increasing sensitivity to nature and surrendering a degree of control to be both fascinating and healing. Look forward to hearing more.

Thank you. I don't know if I'll be doing many posts related to my craft as it is quite personal in nature, but if people are interested in hearing about it then it's certainly something to consider at the very least.

That can be tricky, its so risky to expose, but so rewarding to connect. good luck here

I'm very open about the fact that I am a witch so I'm not worried about the risk. It's just that even my witchy tumblr doesn't share aspects of my craft outside of personal recipes and the like so I'm not used to sharing other bits of it. But still you are correct, it can be very rewarding to connect with others so it's something I am taking into consideration for future posts.

Hi @sigilmancy ! Great post, i like it, i just upvoted it ! PS: you may like to follow me ... @legsnheels

Thank you for the upvote. I will give your blog a look and see what it's all about for sure :)

Hello Pagan Witch Queen, I'm Oatmeal Joey, and I used to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I like Harry Potter. I love Nintendo, especially the N64. I like Mario but Zelda is cool too. And I used to play Sim City a lot and some of the Sims. I don't cook a lot but I love eating. Maybe I should try Etsy and Weasyl. Have not tried them yet. I like trying new things. Oh, Minescraft is pretty cool kind of like Sim City and Mario Paint combined into something like LEGO and Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys.

Hello Oatmeal Joey! Sounds like we have a lot in common, which is nice. As is trying new things, that's how you get the most out of life. I've always said that Minecraft is like virtual LEGOS basically so you're not too far off the mark. I hope to see you around Steemit some more, you seem like a really nice person :D

awesome

Welcome to Steemit. I hope it is good for you. Invite some friends and build the community

Thank you. I already have, many of my regular viewers from my previous streaming platform are coming over so that they can watch and support when I begin to stream here as well and I know they will make great additions to the community ^^

Welcome to Steemit, @sigilmancy! I wish my intro post was as well done as yours - the perks of looking over someone's shoulder before jumping in... LOL!

So frelling happy to see another witch and card reader aboard! Speaking of intro posts, I still haven't put one together for the Steemit Tarot Tuesday hash tag thingy we started a few weeks ago, but for now any post with tarottuesday as one of the five will be resteemed by @steemittarot (and I just followed you through the account).

Please feel free to join our Discord channel - it's a bit quiet at the moment, but I try to wander in at least once a day to water the plants, and drop off a fresh batch of cyber chocolate chip cookies. Here's the link -

Happy Steeming!

I suppose so, but I also looked around at other people's intro posts to get a decent idea as well as the sample intro post that they have up.

Huzzah! I'm always happy to meet a fellow witch :D

I went ahead and joined the steemittarot and the discord, though I don't know how often I'll partake in Tarot Tuesday but it'll at least be nice to see tarot stuff across my feed. Thank you so much for letting me know about those fantastic places, I look forward to seeing you there!

Good plan. Again, wish I'd thought of it, but at least I was able to help my eldest when she joined. 😜

You're very welcome! Jump in whenever you feel the urge, and I'm so glad you joined the channel. Feel free to shout out with any Steemit questions in general as well.

am pleased by your post , especially the post tittle,A wild witch has appeared! Good thing she's friendly, I think?--hahaha thank you

Thank you. I figured it'd be catchy enough to draw some attention, and of course a bit of an honor to my gaming roots with Pokemon way back in the day XD

Welcome to Steemit @sigilmancy!
I wish you much success and hope you find Steemit to be as rewarding and informative as I have. @bycoleman
