Hello steemit community! WOW there are a lot of you.
First off
I did not know what steemit was until just the other day. Was doing a random Google search and happened to click on the site. I was confused at first. I saw a Reddit-esque website. I kind of blew it off for the first few seconds while thinking to myself "Oh no another Reddit clone, boohoo".
My first impressions couldn't have been more wrong. I was lazily glossing over the website when something that stuck out to me. Dollar amounts $$$ beside each post of decent sums - curiosity growing evermore - I then glanced over to the headlines of the post, most of the titles looked like something I'd actually might to read. "This aren't you average POS Reddit post “I thought to myself. (I love Reddit but... sometimes a good discussion can be hard to come by. Upon clicking on one I then realized how wrong I had been. These are full blog articles, and people are voting with their money for the development of quality post. Voting with money instead of imaginary internet points, I was surprised to find, changed the entire mood of a sharing site. People were acting more professional, kind, interested.
Steemitians (?) were not hiding behind the Internet's anonymity the great veil that internet goers often hid behind. They were being them real selves - or at least as close as I've seen in terms of normal humanistic communication goes on the internet.
That's when I knew I had to join. I was inspired, I wanted to be part of a community where decency mattered again.
So, Who am I?
Well I'm your average run of the mill Joe that is really excited about steemit. "Oh how generic" one might say. "I know, I know" I might reply. But honestly, it’s really difficult not to get excited. I believe I will stay excited about steemit for years to come. I can't wait to see the talented be rewarded in an internet world where memes and joke post run supreme. There’s times for jokes too, but even the best of jokes will never be able to outclass the hard work and dedicated creators of this community of which I'm so proud to now be a part of. (Not grammatically correct to end sentences in "of" but I'm doing it anyway! "Wow, What a rebel!")
So, really who am I?
Okay! Okay I’ll get on with it already.
I a college student currently studying Management information systems and data analysis.
I've always been a big fan of computers and technology in general. I could type before I could write. I still remember the glory days of 1st grade outpacing my classmates in Mario Teaches Typing. To be honest that was probably my prime.
I often and overly optimistic - often biting off more than I can chew. Aim for the stars and you'll land upon the moon they say (I…think? that is a saying right? I'm not just crazy?). I struggled through my early childhood, because of my lack of social skills and overall shyness. I finally branched out in high school after being forced to go out by my friends. Honestly thank god for them. I'd be a super hermit without them. Thank you Luke, my enormously footed best friend, for dragging me out of my room and down the stairs to go get some Baskin Robbin's Ice Cream, It really made my day, and I'll never forget that.
I still am quite the introvert. I like to spend a lot of time by myself pondering ideas... most of which never get completed.(but that happens to all of us...right?). Eventually when I get something done for myself and get past the barriers of my ADHD mind it isn't really satisfying.
As for what I plan to do on this website. I'm not sure. I think I'll do something relate able (hopefully) by sharing the stories of the highs and the lows of my life. I have almost an obsession of telling people about my life. It helps remember that I'm not the only one out there with tough (and the good!) times - I'm not alone in all of this - and hopefully my stories will do the same for them.
Where do I go from here?
I'm not really sure. Anyone got any pointers? Or maybe a road map? Where do I go with steemit next? Was this post a waste of your time? Fill me in! Be Honest don't sugar coat it. tell me straight up how it is.
