People call me Ömer, i guess thats my name. Im living in Turkey, studying ELT(English Language Teaching) at DEU(Dokuz Eylül University) and preparing to become a full time English teacher in my country.

I dont really like to introduce myself, i prefer to let people get to know me but this is an exception i have to let slip.
Well. Who am i?

Born on 17 of January 1996 and lived in Turkey since then. Tomorrow is my birthday, yey or meh!? Im not much of a people person, i prefer solitary and self entertainment cause people are too exhausting. I got few besties i keep close other than that outsiders see me as a very serious and boring person, which im not at all. My daily nourishment comes off of listening music. I cant stop, i get bored when the music stops. Dont really have a strict taste so i listen whatever comes beautiful to me. There is a group called Dream Theater, it was my dream to watch them live and i had that dream come true this fall. Now im waiting for Tool and a Perfect Circle before i die :P

Hmm what else... Ah, i have been in crafting and cosplay as a hobby for sometime. There are not much events happening in Turkey so i was one of the founders of major event holders in İzmir. Did cosplay, handcrafts became a event organizer, been a jury for the qualifiers. Ah good memories.

Im a tv series maniac. I relentlessly watch every series i feel interesting. My favorite categories are fantasy and sci-fi but im always open minded to new experiences, it is also true about tv series and movies too. Right now I feel like i have consumed the most of the series and im in search of new jewels. Lately X-files restarted its been a emotional roller coaster for me to see my favorite actors/actresses age before my eyes. I felt old... There are at least 20 active series im following right now, it became like a job to me. Ah mentioning jobs, me and my best friend tried youtube for sometimes. The main concept was Geek stuff, comic books, tv shows, movies, games etc. We gained a intellectual and loyal community. Opened up a Comic Shop for fun, distributed comic books to almost everywhere in Turkey.

Last and the most important part for me here is: GAMES. I love gaming above all i think. Started with a fake atari made in china with 9999 in 1 casettes. Grow up with games like mario, tetris, tank etc. then upgraded to the computers. My all time favorite game is GTA: Vice City. I think first i played it was the year 2002 or 2003 about the same time as COD(first one) Medal of Honor, Need for Speed: Underground, Max Payne 2. I even had a chance to play club penguin on dial up internet connection. Oh the nostalgia. I can literally write and talk about games forever if anyone is willing to listen. Lately i've been feeding my hunger with Rainbow Six: Siege, before that i spent 3500 hours on Dota 2 but finally was able to quit. Oh and i love memes.

Welcome to Steemit! It's got a steep learning curve, but it's worth it in the long run if you keep putting in the time! Just know that it will take quite a while before you start getting attention and followers. The secret to success? Keep posting high quality content regularly, and make sure to search out other people's posts, read them, and give relevant comments.

Tagging is extremely important. Always make sure to use all five possible tags, and to keep them relevant. You can always just tag something "blog" or "photography" or something else really general (so long as it's still relevant) to fill the quota if you need to- most of your tags should be established ones, though one or two less used ones are fine.

Posting more than four times a day can reduce your potential rewards, as well as turning off potential users. (I aim for one post per day most of the time.) Consistency is important, though, so you should try to post often.

Always make sure to attach a photo to your posts! You should also have a finished profile: Write a description, add a profile picture and a banner- neither needs to be of you, necessarily, but you should have something- and set a website.

There are a lot of really good resources out there for minnows (new users). You should check out the following groups and services, they offer a lot of valuable resources to new users:

@thesteemengine (Check this one out first- they're an extremely supportive group.)
@qurator (These guys offer an excellent liftime upvote to accounts that post consistent quality content.)
@originalworks (Whenever you write an original post, tag this account- they'll verify it's original and upvote you.)
@steembasicincome (Another lifetime upvote option.)
@steemstem (The biggest and best STEM curation group in the game. If you're interested in writing or reading about science, check these guys out!)
@geopolis (A fairly new science curation group, this one's dedicated to the study of the Earth.)
@ocd (A curation group that seeks out undervalued new writers.)

And, again, the biggest thing is just patience. Breakout successes are incredibly rare on Steemit- you've got to find your way there through perseverance and hard work. It takes time, but you'll eventually succeed if you put in the work.

Please feel free to repost this guide on the posts of other minnows you run into!
