From Plants to the Bill of Rights: A Steemit Introduction

in introduceyourself •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemsters! (i am brand new don't know if that's a thing ;)

We live in the most interesting time to be alive in all of Human history. The rate at which humanity moves forward is astounding but sometimes the lessons of history are forgotten. This moves me to produce content that I find is invaluable in these times, a reminder that one man can make a difference, even if my story only touches one other soul. I am new to video content creation but I am no stranger to speaking my mind, even when the subjects can be occasionally difficult to stomach. I will not proclaim I am a truther, a citizen journalist, an investigator, or a farmer, I am a man with concerns and passions, some so moving I am compelled to come out of my introverted shell and share my opinion with the world.

One of my passions is Aquaponics. Aquaponics is a form of food production that marries two food production methods, Hydroponics (production of plants in water) and Aquaculture (fish farming). This form of agriculture has ties in ancient Egypt but has since had a huge resurgence in interest.

Beside aspiring to be a new-age farmer I am also very interested in Civil Rights and Liberties and have found it very important to speak my mind when it comes to the perversion and outright stripping of our inalienable Constitutional rights.

I look forward to becoming part of this diverse and interesting community and I hope you enjoy my content.

Hi, Welcome to Steemit, I'm looking forward to reading what else you have to say :)

Hi there @karenb54 Thanks for checking out my little corner! I am working on new content now!

Great keep it coming :)

following, I would love to learn more about Aquaponics thanks for sharing. Welcome, I'm new to Steemit as well.

I plan to do MANY more aquaponics videos. I would love to answer question if you have any.

you should do up a welcome to steemit introduction...

steemTOOLS.com rocz, welcome & hi & welcome :)

C U on the BlockChain ;)

Awesome thanks

Welcome to Steemit :)

Thank you :)

Hello and welcome, interesting introduction :-)

Thank you very much!

I like your aquaponics :-) Welcome on steemit.

...and we are also happy to see you on Steemit @socore ! Nice introduction!

Thanks so much, I am working on another Aquaponics video, this one describing the different methods and techniques and how I plan to scale up production in my little apartment homestead :)

Aquaponics - brilliant. We were looking at ducks. We're still pondering it. Followed. Welcome!

You know that is one amazing method of aquaponics that can be used on large or small scale. You could even use a natural pond stocked with fish, and ducks :) and use that water as a nutrient base.

They are just the most amazing systems. To really get something out of it, we'd need more land. Space is our problem. But it doesn't stop us dreaming.

One method that I hope to capitalize on is vertical farming which is actually not difficult to implement in an aquaponics system

We were looking at that, too! lol That looks awesome. We're training some of the fruit and veggies up the fence in an effort to expand growing space that way....vertical gardening is very cool (or I hope it will be).

I am building a massive organic farm.. I have over 1000 varieties of seeds. Aquaponics and Aeroponics are next for me.. Been doing organic for 7 years. Great to meet you.. Followed and upvoted with all my power.

Welcome to steemit @socore =) I must say that I recognize myself in some of your words. And the quote from Gandhi that you posted is also very important to me, as well as to the world ! Upvoted and Followed to read more of your posting. Best wishes !

That singular quote from Gandhi has done more to shape my life than anything. I look forward to producing more content and I appreciate the kind words!

it is one of the really good news.

Welcome to Steemit! :))

Hey not seen you in ages, I been busy; hope u r travelling smart !!! ;)

hugz/ :)

Thanks for sharing this new way of farming. How long have your fishes been around or does it matter. Older the better?

This is not a "new way" to farm as its origins date back to ancient Egypt and Asia. This type of of agriculture has experienced an upswing as new technologies are applied to ancient techniques yielding magnificent results. My Common Goldfish we bought as feeders from my local petshop about 6 months ago and they have grown considerably. The size of the fish does directly correlate to the amount of waste it will produce, so if the goal is maximum yield larger fish would be in order, however this is merely a hobby system. Thanks so much for the question!

My pleasure. Thanks for the quick response. Im new here too! Welcome to steemit. Following you.

Welcome @socore.best regards

Thanks!

Welcome! Upvoted.

Biotecture is the most important technology that has been ignored. Have you any experience with Earthship technology?

Yes I find earthships, permaculture, and alternative energy very interesting!

Oh! You'll probably be interested in this interview I did last year! :D

@shayne

After I grew aeroponic cannabis in a low pressure system on 2 30 site tables I made out of $50 worth of pvc/fittings/sprayers and some panda film and flexible drainage pipe for the return for 2 1000w lights I watercooled by making a plexiglass tube and running spaghetti lines to it from a 35gal res that was in turn cooled by an ac which I dipped the cooling element in the water from, the only reason I would grow indoors would be for that(illegal), otherwise I think it's just a hobby (notwithstanding I made a bit of profit) and would rather spend the electric to learn about permaculture and biodynamics.

With the increased efficiency and effectiveness of LEDs coupled with advanced horticulture techniques a profitable indoor grow is totally possible. Brining a grow indoors would have to serve a purpose, and I am not speaking necessarily about cannabis but large indoor space can be converted into expansive vertical farms. The advantage of growing indoors is you can control every aspect of the environment but at the cost of electricity and usually flexibility.

Ok, let me flip it.
Floating islands growing aeroponic crops in the middle of the pacific/equator all year round BY robotic conveyor factories that harvest and plant long V shaped floating aeroponic systems which create the islands by being wound in a circle as they are relocated with the weather.

LEDs, panda film, pvc, or whatever materials necessary will never keep up or surpass growing under the big sun in the dirt, even my floating aeroponic setup couldn't surpass Permaculture design, even if you stack them 20 miles high the energy used to create and maintain them will be obliterated by any other system which takes advantage of the sun and dirt of the world. Go research Permaculture in the desert, when you can do that with LED's I will take notice.

Hello and welcome friend, now is any of this pot :)

It is a crazy world ;)

There is one "Pot" plant it's of the Jack Herrer variety. I live in the magically wonderful legal state of WA.

I always recall these drug dealers, they drilled out an underground cavern for their weed plants, disguised the exhaust etc and finally their electrify account usage got them caught !!!

The property was sold to some cheese makers who used the underground huge space to ferment cheese :)

You are RESTEEMED & FOLLOWED !!!

btw those are good things herein ;)

Hugz, c u on the BlockChain :)

Hi Socore. So glad to see you here. Can't wait to see more aquaponics vids. Teach me Sensei.

Maybe it's not that relevant or even rude to tell you that I'd rather do that, but then again the topic is "from plants" and nobody said anything about a plant being against the law and how laughable anything is that allows that to happen (the bill or privileges), but then again I'm no constitutionalist, just an anarchist.

The title refers to the two linked videos, I like aquaponics on one hand and do Civil Rights videos on the other hands. Thanks for stopping by and commenting :)

Welcome socore, I will a watcher.

Welcome to the future @socore!

Looks like you are up to some great stuff!

Welcome to steemit @socore!

Welcome to Steemit, @socore! It's great to have another gardener here! There is an active and ever-expanding group of gardeners here on Steemit, from all over the world. In my view, it's fascinating to see so many approaches to growing plants. So I'm excited to hear about your aquaponics and other gardening.

If you add the Gardening tag to your posts, it will be easier for curators to find it and consider it for the SteemTrail @gardening-trail. You can find out more here. If you’re using images, quotes, or copied information from another source, cite those sources accordingly. If you use your own imagery, please let us know by adding a sentence in your post saying so. Your authentic experience and thoughts are more important for the @gardening-trail than re-creating information available elsewhere. And text and pictures work better than standalone videos.

I hope this helps you get connected with the rest of the gardening community here on Steemit. I'm looking forward to your posts -- and have a great garden year in 2017!
