Chasing motivation: a recipe based on experience

How to keep on chasing success when you lack money/ willingness/ time? Life will give you a kick.

This post may be considered as the second part of my introduction as the issues described here became crucial in making me who I am now.

Motivation for self-development and studies.

No matter who you are and how much you earn. There's hardly a person who is absolutely pleased with what they can and know. And I am by no means an exception. I've just graduated from Russia's best university for linguists, MSLU. Still, I know that my language level and professional skills are far from being perfect and when I thought that I was "quite qood" and had no need to move on and spend hours reading grammar books and translating passages, I got a kick. A kick from Master Life.

In April I was invited to a conference on Russia's Channel 1 which is the most important TV channel in the country. The task was to interprete from and to Swedish for a family of swedes. So I equipped myself with a notebook, a pen and a beutiful pair of shoes and came to their office in Ostankino. There I learned that this would be not an ordinary interpretation, but simultaneous translation from a booth near the scene. The only thought I had then was "F*ck".

That was an awful experience. I interpreted without a break for more than two hours in both directions without a break. I was not ready for a job like that. Maybe someone will say "Well, you didn't expect anything like that, so the numerous mistakes in your speech are ok". No, they are not. That was when I understood that there are no limits for your learning a language, as it will never be "good enough". The only thing that can show you that you have reached a very high level is when native speakers stop paying compliments to your English/ Swedish/ Hindu. This is when you speak well.

Motivation to earn

This summer I had to cope with a very difficult period of unwillingness to run on. I have already invested really much into my business and had to concentrate on its bringing me something in return but still it didn't work. I've tried really much (as I thought), but that have been just some poor attempts. Finally, I became quite lazy anf waited for results scrolling the website. Sure, most of you know the feeling. But then a kick came when I HAD TO EARN. I had no other choice. That was a car accident.

I was driving my father's car to our summer house but lost the control over the car. It drove into the side ditch and overturned. That was really awful, horrible, frightening. But that was also a kick. Using every possible way to earn is what I do now. Every single moment in your life has two sides. So, please, concentrate on what is likely to bring you motivation and never give up. Simply DARE
