I was thinking back to the day I found Steemit, 8 months ago and I realized that many of the friends I've made in Steemit may have written their first #introduceyourself post that I missed.

Let's share our first #introduceyourself post and sort of revel in the magic that many of us first experienced.

Post your link below to your very first #introduceyourself post so we can all learn more about each other.

(Try not to gasp when you see the payout amounts.....it's really shocking!)

Here's my very first post that I made on June 8, 2016 that received a payout of over $1367:

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@stellabelle/hello-im-leah-and-im-an-information-addict

On a side note, it would be cool to create a book titled, How I Found Steemit, as a group book project we could release on Amazon. I guess the funds would be put back to Steemit's marketing fund, since it would be too difficult to divide up the proceeds....

I still can't believe how much STEEM you made from that post. Well done.

But the all-time highest post made around $30,000 from a developer, who was it?

oh yeah! That was him!

Don't belivebit just ⌚️

Lol it surprised the hell outta me, funny part is I had the steemit account for 2 weeks prior to that and hadn't posted really...

I know! It's insane. I think it was mostly due to the fact that 98% of the people on here were men, so women tended to make more? That's what I was thinking at the time.......

Hoy I'm a woman I made €1.92 lol 🙄

ha ha ha! I'm reading yours right now!

How the times have changed; look how into Dash I was then... and look at now:

https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@thedashguy/discussion-why-is-dash-sprinting-away-from-privacy-and-fungibility-a-look-at-the-coinfirm-io-dash-core-team-deal-and-its-kyc-aml

/sigh I thought Dash was such a cool project back then...

my favorite part:

I got into Dash because I got bored of the false claims we were ALL making about Bitcoin such as private, fast, instant, decentralized and beyond... And while Dash doesn't solve all of these painpoints for me it's a step in the right direction, so I jumped in 8 months ago, and quickly have become one of the more "popular" folks in the crowd,

you know what, i can identify with you because you seem to push the envelope and get really excited about stuff. I get overly enthused about some things, and this happened with steemit in the beginning (for obvious reasons like the over-the-top payouts...I mean who wouldn't lose their shit when they got $1367 for one post????)
I get excited, then devastated by the fact that humans have not evolved very much. A group of people can ruin the most elaborate, advanced invention in a matter of seconds due to greed. This is kind of where we are at as a species, unfortunately. The same problems can be found everywhere, even in here. There is no utopia.

I'm starting to learn that... it's sort of depressing lol why is there no skynet yet?? It would be greed-less at least..

well, maybe we need to create it? I've often thought that if a very select group of non-greedy people get together and make something then it would work.....And they would basically make sure the system was set up in a way that didn't reward greed.

Pretty cool post. I had no idea about you.

Lol thanks! I've been needing some content and why not just explain my opinions on something I understand quite well, but don't agree with the alignment any longer, still trying to find the best way to explain it and balance facts and links with simplistic explanations of what goes on behind the curtain..

As we're walking down memory line , thought it would be worth sharing the very first introduceyourself tagged post....

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@mummyimperfect/hello-steemit

Omg. then it was mummyimperfect who started the entire trend of introduceyourself?

this is really cool, as I'm getting more idea about how people are connected. I didn't know you and mummyimperfect knew each other!

it was a crapshoot.

Yeah mine was. . 😲

but you never gave up.

Nope ... my account has improved a little. Your introduce myself post has made more han my whole account to date 😩 help

well, your comment just made $7.05 so I'd say things are improving.

Wow thank you @abit and @stellabelle I am chuffed to bits :)

He walked up to me and said ""I have a gun empty your till", Think I was in shock as I turned to him told him to go away but not so politely and pushed him out of the shop then locked the door,

LOL. Burglar was probably in shock after that as well.

I was stupid he could have had a gun or knife

I got $1271 for mine! Way too much payout! I've been atoning for my reward pool draining by rarely posting and just UP voting others, every day since June. I will still drop the occasional post, and may even post regularly when time permits, but now my steem time budget is spent reading, up voting and occasionally commenting.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@kenny-crane/hi-im-kenny-from-youtubestars

I wrote about the parallel between the excitement I felt in the early days of YouTube and Steemit. I'm still excited!

wow! That's nuts. How did you find Steemit?

My business of programming custom apps for private social networks was slowing down last Summer, and I read about Ethereum and the DAO which looked interesting, so I began to learn basic programming for Ether. Just a few weeks into looking into all things Ethereum and cryptocurrency, I read about Steemit, on Minds I think. I came here and it was love at first sight!

I set up a full node and was mining steem within days, but I enjoyed the social interaction and the lure of possible payouts so I spent more time interacting and less time programming here. And that's how its been ever since. Even though I don't post often, I do interact here daily.

yes, you're a social asset. You're very nice to me on twitter too.

Fascinating! I've been meaning to read that book so I'm going to download it from your link.
my favorite line of yours:

I had a falling away with the team due to being too vocal

You have no idea how that resonated with me! I've been fired for speaking my mind.......MANY TIMES. At this stage, I'm basically unhirable because I refuse to kiss anyone's ass.
Anyway, wow, you're like the real deal. I'm impressed.

At this stage, I'm basically unhirable because I refuse to kiss anyone's ass.

I'm the same way. I'm loving -- but brutally honest. A lot of people don't like that.

Anyway, wow, you're like the real deal. I'm impressed.

Thanks. [blush]

I'm not mean either. But I won't lie to cover up other people's mistakes. Corporations and bosses generally don't like this honesty trait. It has really gotten me into a lot of trouble.......I should write a post about this!!!! It's good to know there are others out there like me. I get it from my mom's side....they are stubborn individualists......my grandpa used to break in wild horses by punching them between the eyes...

my grandpa used to break in wild horses by punching them between the eyes...

LOL

hahah yes yes! Yes!

I'm glad that we're both still here Steeming away :) .. we've been through a lot you and I.

we should all do our 1 Year Update post too when the time comes...

I'd be willing to do that. Not a shabby idea.

Make sure and send me a comment or reply with the link because sometimes i miss posts!

I second that! You're fascinating, for sure. I like your Nerds posters too.

Yes! Do an In-depth one! I'm looking forward to it.

I JUST REALIZED YOU'RE SALTY MASHED POTATOES.

LOL. I had a feeling you didn't know that was me.

Great idea! I link to mine in my footer on most of my posts so people can find it. I'm still pretty happy that it made $179. :) I never did cash out though.

I remember the bag over your head...

I remember yours and I think I commented on it.

The 22nd is my 7-month anniversary and nearly 7 months ago I made my first post...and made THREE CENTS. lol Here's the link for your enjoyment. Enjoy!

merej99 as a newbie, love it!

I never did a proper one ( I think )
I joined around the big make up videoclip cashing around 30k. That trending post killed my #mammasitta motivation 🙈 and payout.
The all time biggest payout around 300.
My very first post ( Agrrrrr) was the same day. Note that sarcastic link name I obviously edited later

https://steemit.com/motherhood/@mammasitta/mammasitta-s-pussy-power-x-tara-s-girlpower-and-what-beauty-has-to-do-with-trending-upvotes

Pussy power, LOL!! Great intro! Your daughter may not have said it yet, but I will, you are beautiful @mammasitta ;) This is so much fun, I've spent almost all of my steemit time the past day and a half in this section :)

I feel kind of silly using this phrase but I was so annoyed that I made an intro the same day this post broke a record . I am honest but it didn't stop me to continue my steemit path. You are very charming and thanks for your comment. So nice to know all of you and yes super fun! @stellabelle came up with great ideas and fun posts since I know her .

I've been here for 1 month, my "introducemyself" received a not shicking payout, but form me it was a super payout! :) https://steemit.com/art/@silviabeneforti/i-introduce-myself

Lovely idea @stellabelle
Mine is very honest and rather intense :)
https://steemit.com/life/@daisyd/a-year-ago-i-survived-and-started-living

Thank you for sharing yours,
"My internet and info addiction is currently crippling my mind. I find people to be boring for the most part and have become completely anti-social as a result."

  • I can relate to that! Am also very interested albeit a little scared of A.I

wow, crazy story, Bob. Glad you got it taken out when you did.

Wow could you tell me how come you could earn so much money back then? what changes?
Anyway i am 12 days on steemit and i really like it a lot although my introduction post was a huge success that made a total of 0,25$ , the next days i did better :P

Another thing i want to see is that those 12 days i have checked a lot of posts and i have never seen so many comments before so WHERE ALL OF YOU GUYS ARE HIDDEN??
below is the most amazing introduction post you will ever see( any new one who read this, this post is guide of what not to do :P )
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@filotasriza3/hello-steemworld-lets-have-a-longlasting-relationship

Haha Yeah those were the days for the lucky ones :)

Well, what changed is that Steemit is no longer a bubble of speculators.....it was overhyped when it launched, that's why the payouts were so big. Perhaps other things that the devs can tell you, but I think it was a bubble.

thanks for the answer i though the same too, if this was still a thing steemit's future would be way too short

I remember yours!

Great idea, @stellabelle - what fun!
Here's my intro post from 5 months ago:
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@saramiller/sara

most sustainable community in Texas came to my attention. I am blessed to now live at the Garden of Eden, where I am learning the ways of the Jedi in master training with super being Quinn Eaker.

i need to read up on Garden of Eden...

Wow! I need to take a week off just to read all of these! Here's mine. It is funny to look at this because going overboard with pictures in my posts is kind of "my thing". This has none at all.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@hanshotfirst/who-is-hanshotfirst-and-what-is-he-doing-here

That was a great intro, did a really good job of showing your (awesome, you say geeky I say awesome ;) personality. And your heart. Mine, not so much, lol, I really should have done a do-over once I got my feet under me. Instead all of my commenting served as an intro I think, ha!

Thanks! Your engagement with the community speaks volumes!!!!

I remember yours!

I specifically remember you commenting on it a little while after I posted it. I remember thinking "Wow she's a celebrity around here!"

Thanks for taking the time to comment on it way back then. It meant a lot.

You encouraged me and a lot of others in the beginning. Thank you so much for doing that!

as you can see, i'm not a celebrity. I was one of the first prolific writers (with mania too) to arrive on the scene. I've also considered myself to be a social media "artist" meaning I really like social media, from even the days of Friendster, which was before MySpace. Maybe the thing that really makes me different is that I was a prolific penpal writer as a child. I wrote a letter to someone different every day and I received a ton of mail......this is me even today, meaning it's all digital now..

I've only been here a short time really but here it is anyways! Great idea @stellabelle, I love your spirit! 🕶 🕶 🕶 🕶 🕶

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@personz/my-self-online-thinking-about-data-ownership-privacy-and-anonymity

you're a real joy! I can't remember how I first found you, but I like how your mind works!

Fabulous idea @stellabelle. It's inspiring to see the wide range of payouts and those who have stayed, enjoyed and brought value to Steemit regardless of the $$. My introduceyourself post reached $0.07. Still loving it and spearheading artist community collaborations. Grateful to be a part of this extraordinary revolution.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@everlove/the-profound-nature-of-a-conscious-life-living-in-community

Well I read yours some time ago and your guide to writing. Very interesting. SO joining with my first post here with this account: https://steemit.com/writing/@jyezie/why-i-write-for-me-myself-and-you

Let's face it we all , partly for ego reason, want to be read.

true. For me writing is a disease.

I hope there is no cure...

Well, here's my "introduceyourself" from back when I wasn't quite sure how to tag it yet! LOL!!! I have learned a lot about how things work here by now and yet I know I need to learn an awful lot more. This one is a re-post of the original one which had its picture taken out for a reason that remains unknown to me to this day.

Thanks for the opportunity to share it once more, I hope you all enjoy, namaste:

https://steemit.com/introduce/@eric-boucher/4zymib-between-sea-and-sky-rainbow-portal-is-bridging-the-spiritual-world-and-earthward-domains

P.S.: I am also thinking of making a book right out of the main articles I have written about the Canadian Rockies and advertise Steemit.com on the first page as a tribute to the site and spirit of it. Soon,...

nice intro photograph! Hmmm...I jealous of your location, are you still there?

You bet, though only for a few more months... Thanks for your kind comment and, since I just posted this one from here as well, did you see my latest:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@eric-boucher/a-fleeting-moment-at-the-edge-of-the-world-an-acknowledgement-to-the-400th-followers-and-almost-3000-posts

I hope you enjoy, namaste :)

My first real introduction post didn't make quite that much profit. This sad puppy is sad. And, um... neither did my second introduction. Well, better luck next time I guess...

Anyway, I guess 2.66 is a fortune to some, so I might say I'm lucky.

yeah times are changing, the price was different for stella back then it was 1.5USd for steem or something

So the price of steem directly affects the size of rewards? Sounds like we are really talking about diminishing returns since the steem price, I'm been told, is hardwired to devalue.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@son-of-satire/son-of-satire-introduction-a-thank-you-to-the-creators-of-steemit

Clearly I had the best formatting skills in the world right from my first day on here.

I read yours for the first time last week!

Hello @stellabelle I'm new here and I have no link in #introduceyourself but I am happy to know myself. I am Mars is the fourth planet in the distance from the sun in the solar system which is outside the Earth's neighbor. Therefore I am happy to participate here. Happy day

hahah, that was one awesome day.. I just got back from production in Cali that same week and gave this "steemit" thing a shot...
Hola My Name is Wally And Steemit Will Now Be My World

the photo of you getting hit is hilarious! Nice one.

Time flies when uoure having fun! Steemin for over 3 months now and still love it! :)

https://steemit.com/introduction/@ourlifestory/our-life-story-or-chapter-2-let-us-introduce-ourselves

Hi @stellabelle. Nice idea :D
My introduction earned me about $90, I was happy. Here it is
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@handsolo/pain-control

wow, your story is incredible. I feel like a sloth right now....

Hi there @stellabelle
You have been an inspiration on here, since the beginning. Thank you for your kind words my friend. Just keep being you, you're great :D

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Your garden rocks ;) Thanks for the vote, sometimes I say wayyy too much in comment sections. Did I say I was clueless, as in past tense? haha ;)

Thank you and you didn't weird or saying to much😍

Editing that comment, it came across...not the way I meant it too! It sounded funny in my head.

Gasping...gasping...OMG! $1367 sire?? Good Lord, that's scary good.
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@trillex/stop-hi-can-i-get-to-know-you

cant wait to meet more steemians!

hmm... now, i think I have another idea from this post.

What's it?

To see if there's worth checking out intro post on value basis.

it would be cool to set up a graph according to payouts, with the highest first.....i wonder if any trends would emerge?

What a fantastic idea!! (unless you're me, then it's completely embarrassing)

I landed here on November 28th, just before the last hardfork. This is a photo taken of me as I wandered the steemit halls my first day:

If you can't tell by the durpy duh look on my face, I'll translate- I was utterly clueless. The only thing I knew coming in was 'choose your name carefully because it can't be changed' and 'put your password somewhere really safe'. These were instructions given to me by my husband. To be fair he also had me watch a video...a very technical (and verryy boring) video that I heard two words of, blockchain-?durp; steem-? duhh

My husband translated: "If you write stories on this site they will be there forever, a legacy for our great great grandchildren. And steem is a new form of money that you'll be paid for writing these stories."

Okay then.

The first thing I posted was a short story. No picture, no formatting. I started browsing and quickly realized I needed to learn how to post pictures. Soon after that I saw the introduceyourself tag, and do you think I opened up a few to get some ideas? Nope. Did you say your post made thirteen hundred plus dollars @stellabelle? Yeahhh, move that decimal point over to the left three spaces, that was mine.

My clever (if clever means clueless) introduction...Enjoy!

no worries.....it took me an hour to figure out how to post a photo and then i think Dan said something like on my very first post, "Well, if this was formatted correctly, I'd upvote it......."

Wow, I bet that lit a fire under your butt to learn formatting, ha!
I have a question...who is transisto, and why did he/she downvote this post? It was a great idea, just look at this comment section. If you don't know why, I might just go to his/her page and ask.

sure, ask away. I think he downvoted this post because my post wasn't actually "HQ". It is, however highly engaging, with lots of payouts on comments (which is coming in near future on steemit anyway). I am not really bothered, though, since i've been downvoting the Steem Guild posts that I feel are overvalued. It really doesn't bother me at all. He has a right to his opinon. So do I. I'm ok. I'm ecstatic actually because the trending page will begin to show actual high engagement......there's going to be some weird people trying to game the system, but i think we will actually see what humans want to read, as opposted to bot upvotes.

It already seems like I wrote this decades ago.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@ericvancewalton/hi-i-m-eric

Ah, what a trip down memory lane. Here's my introductory post from back in August: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@cryptomancer/introducing-myself-tales-of-an-expat-code-slinging-crypto-enthusiast-part-1

It would be cool to see some kind of community authored Amazon Kindle book about Steemit. If someone organized something like that, I'd certainly be willing to chip in a few pages.

this is nuts. I never saw your intro post, but I used to teach English in Japan too. My brother did too, and he also worked for Nova. I had no idea they went bankrupt but i'm not surprised. I worked for Aeon. I left Japan due to a strange illness I developed from stage fright. Anyway, I know what it's like to live in a one-room apartment. I do miss some aspects of Japan though......

Wow, small world! Yeah, most of the English schools in Japan seem shady as f*** and Nova was probably the worst of the pack. Teaching did help me get over my own fear of public speaking, though, and I had a lot more positive experiences than negative. What part of Japan did you live in, and what do you miss the most about it? I love the convenience of Tokyo; there's many things I'll miss if I ever leave.

i was in Sasebo. I miss the food, and the safety as well as public transportation and of course the odd futuristic japanese sensibility

The public transportation is great. I love being able to take the train everywhere and not drive (which I hated and found very stressful when I lived in the States). And Tokyo, while one of the biggest cities in the world, is also one of the safest. I would never ever want to live in a big city in the US.

yeah, i'm trying to think of what might be an interesting topic......

I find people to be boring for the most part and have become completely anti-social as a result LOL @stellabelle! You are the doppelganger of one of my closest childhood friends. I'm one of the only people she still likes, mostly because I make up weird songs and sing them to her on voxer (the online walkie talkie)

weird songs, eh? Me too!

I was advised to make a big effort for an intoduction post including video. Thanks Randy @hilarski for getting me such a big step up into the platform. I am embarrassed by the formatting and the typos - but the words count.

http://mymark.mx/SteemitIntro

I am of a mind to do some more - I can do an intro to so many facets of an amazing life.

ok reading now.

Retired Navy Officer

Are there any secrets that you are not allowed to share with us?

No, not really.

You're suppose to say yes and milk it for all it's worth. lol

Thanks for the honesty though.

I never know what I am supposed to say 😉

And, I have recently turned vegan, so I don't milk anything anymore 😊

Exactly.

pretty cool! Your life sounds quite ideal.

I don't know if it is ideal, but yes, it is a good life. Thank you.

this is interesting! I actually took the time to read my intro post again... I remember I just joined with curiosity following the July 4 news. At that time I did not foresee at all that I was going to spend so much time here (well, yes, as well as losing so much money here). Quite a remarkable journey until now... but even at steemit's peak time, this post did not earn my anything substantial ($0.07 and 5 votes, the biggest vote contributed all the money long after the submission and she was gone atm).
https://steemit.com/introduction/@deanliu/a-father-from-taiwan-thinking-introducing-myself-a-bit

also, after reading it again. it is quite interesting to find out that the last two words of the post title combined is the name of my biggest supporter here on steemit - @abit. It seems destined. LOL.

This is a fun idea, thank you @stellabelle. It can be rather difficult (depending on the tagging used in particular) to be able to pull up old intro posts in google or scroll/search back through a blog.

Anyway, I showed up during the hayday, but it took me a while to get known. However, this was my first 'breakout' post that got rather person about being transgender. It's one of the rarer times I've talked about myself, especially at length.

Keep smilin' and Steem on!

i'll read this when I get back! I have to run and do something....

Ok, it's nothing special but it is an intro.

those were the days. i remember feeling intimidated and all the cool trending posts. no drama and no "jumping on the throat of other people"

I remember the payouts. And I remember my sleepless nights that were filled with exuberant ideas.

Kill it with fire!

wow, that's cool. I had no idea about your profession...
The reason is because Curie didn't exist back then...

I also noticed none of the older posts can be resteemed, or at least not on my end.

Unfortunately I never introduced myself properly but ya know me, it's @tradz bebe! ha!

I love your style @stellabelle!

Thanks.

Very Cool Leah,

Looks like this crypto system is working...

Frank

it has been working non-stop since it started.

welcome

Good idea I am new I will also post my post your ..

It will be a personal "red letter day" if I ever really introduce myself, lol. Maybe on my 1-year anniversary at the end of August.

I'm having trouble reaching my introductory post for some reason... will keep trying.

EDIT: At the moment on steemit and busy I can't seem to go back further than a certain distance 7 months ago and cannot get to my earlier posts including my introduction that were just before that. If this cannot be fixed I may need to do another one at some point.

AWESOME, thanks for this I have nothing to ink to but my first post and it's not a introduction, so I won't anyways great idea :) I have much material to cover now :D

I just joined, two days ago! Liking steem so far :)

Here is my intro post:
I am interested in meeting point between design and technology
