It's your culture, embrace it

Somewhere on this page, something says that I need to write a presentation post so here it goes.

I'm Stephanie, a 21-year-old student attempting to find her place in this technological world. Very ironic since I'm striving to get a degree in cinematographic arts. Since I was raised with very old values and last generation's perspectives on life (clearly the one before us), making a living out of my digital career seemed years away, but thanks to the two beautiful people that introduced me to this platform, @hormigaobrera, and @wilmarnm, I can only hope to be able to turn my profession into an actual job.

So as I said, I'm studying to become a filmmaker, I'm only a year away from getting my degree. But also, during the last year, I discovered something I loved doing just as much a filming, it was taking pictures.

Since I have a terrible memory and I hate to forget things that remind me how amazing this world can be, I first started taking pictures of those things (even people or places) that seemed important to me, that had a significant component given by personal matters. I wasn't and still, I am not trying to take a picture in order to sell it. I believe that if at least one of my pictures makes at least one person feel something other than indifference, then maybe I'm on the right path.

In terms of content I keep trying to portray the things I love the most, the things that I think can change the world, being the first one people themselves. I'm socially awkward and still, people remain to be my favorite subjects to photograph and will probably always be. There's a certain beauty inherent to people, created by complex feelings during pure uncomplicated situations that make them the most amazing objects to portray. Depicting this in photographs has become one of my goals, if not the main one.

This was one of my first pictures during the beginning of this photographic journey. My little cousins always victims of my projects.

As this whole world of the image has still an enormous amount of things that I need to learn, besides from my personal projects I'll probably be posting some occasional essays that help me understand the things I have to study for the uni and the things I want to learn. Hopefully, it will help somebody out there having the same questions as I do. Yes, my mind gets intense when studying this kind of things but I usually don't talk about it since I'm rather reserved with those ideas.

Just as I am reserved with those, I am also conservative in terms of showing my face to the internet but here it goes, just so you can see I exist. I'm usually the one behind the camera so, hi!. If I ever grow out of my photographic shyness I'll start posting more about myself i guess.

This one was taken by my little sister during one of our last family vacations.

Please remember that as much as I love photography, in its wide variety of ramifications, I'm devoted to becoming a documentalist, which is not the same as a photojournalist. Maybe I'll upload something different every once in a while, but my main subject will most likely remain the same, as I want to develop my style on years coming ahead.

Nevertheless, there is not s single reason for me to depreciate anybody's job or opinion, since I truly love being contaminated by new perspectives that might change, for better, my own.

Another one just because. This one's from our last family vacation as well.

So to wrap this up, as the title of this post claims, I'm dedicating this to the beautiful shy people out there that still has some trouble on getting used to this online lifestyle, part of the generation of the media, that we're experiencing. Just know that I'm also scared, truly nervous since i don't even know how to use this perfectly, and to what will this lead me, but hopefully it will be to something amazing.
