Hey Steemit!

Excited to be a part of the community. I wanted to introduce myself and give you an idea of what I hope to bring to the table.

Here's me

My Background
I work for a financial services company as an investigative researcher. I'm part of a small group that provides a service called enhanced due diligence, where we use a combination of public records and proprietary databases to gather data, usually as a means of evaluating the risks of doing business with a person or another company. Our service is a deep dive into whatever the subject of interest is, and usually includes analysis of corporate structures, legal proceedings, intellectual property, regulatory history, and media coverage.

My skill set
Database research, data analysis, objective reporting of findings. I have extensive experience looking at companies from a holistic point of view and identifying red flags related to risks and reputation.

Future posts
My intention is take my experience in deep dive research and apply it to the cryptocurrency space. I've been doing just that for my own benefit over the last few months and wanted to start sharing my findings with the broader crypto community so they can benefit from it too. My topics will range from research techniques, to market trends, to looking at individual companies. There may be some curveball topics too.

Blindspot
I'm not a software engineer and won't pretend like I have anything of substance to contribute on the tech side. My friend, @douglyford, is a good follow for that kind of stuff.

Other things you should know
My first introduction to cryptocurrency was when I attended MIT's bitcoin expo in 2014 on a whim. Regrettably, I didn't buy bitcoin at the time. I watched it closely over the next few years until finally buying some in October 2017. Since then, it has really become a second job as I've worked on putting together a long term portfolio.

I also have a securities license and a personal interest in markets. My interest has shifted away from equities markets towards cryptocurrencies over the last few months. And although I'm definitely a #hodler with an eye on fundamentals, I can watch charts all day and night. There are enough people giving armchair TA out there so I will probably steer clear of that kind of content for the most part.

So that's it. I have a few ideas on some topics to start out on, but I'd love to hear your ideas too. If there's something you want to know more about and want me to look into it, let me know!
