Hello fellow Steemit users! :)
I have been in crypto for 2 years now, ever since I got interested in and bought a bunch of Litecoin ASICs for mining back in the spring of 2014 (which turned out to be a total bust when Litecoin nose-dived that summer...oh well, lol). Back then projects were popping up just as fast as they are today, it brings back memories. Back then it was because Bitcoin had just hit $1,100 per coin. I think now it is because "Blockchain" is fast becoming a well-known buzzword thanks to new blockchain technologies like Ethereum, Lisk, Steem, IPFS, Smart Contracts, and DAOs just to name a few.
I noticed Steem rising (no pun intended) on coinmarketcap.com and decided to look into it. I am very impressed with the platform, services, and team so far. Combining normal centralized web protocols like website servers running HTTP-based websites etc, with decentralized blockchain technology, really looks like the path to have mass adoption of everyday internet users on blockchains. They don't care what a blockchain is, they just want something cool that works for them without any hassle, right? It looks to me like Steem is on this path...really impressive to see so many everyday folks participating in blockchain-based applications like Steemit. It's pretty rare usually, trust me. :) We are still in the early days of fully leveraging this technology they call blockchain.
I am psyched about the ability to get paid for content creation and curation, as I have 2 blogs I enjoy writing on...em, well, when I actually take the time to. I enjoy it very much, but a good technical article or whatever takes the good part of a day at the least to write up. Steemit has finally got me off my @$$ and I have written 2 new tech articles in the past few days, and have also submitted ones I had previously written (FYI to any steemit devs reading: a canonical link field would be a nice addition to the "Submit a Story" page). I have 18 years of webmastering experience, and I really enjoy passing on my knowledge to others for free. That's how I taught myself to do it all, through free tutorials all over the web (there are tons all over the place).
Anyway, that's enough about me for now, best wishes to you all on enjoying, discussing, creating, and curating articles on Steemit! :)
Welcome. Its nice to see veterans in the space come across Steem and immediat r ly recognise what it is and what it it is trying to accomplish.
PS, to me a vetetan is anyone who has been in the crypto scene for a year ot more. :)

Thanks, nice to be here. Yeh, I'd say a veteran crypto junkie has either been around a year or more like you said, or has gotten burned badly by crypto in one way or another. It's a double edge sword, have to be careful out there in cryptoland.
