Ciao Steemit! Caffeine, Bitcoins, Psychology, Art and Magic!

Good evening fellow Steemians!

My name's Emanuele (feel free to go for Eman or Em!), a 29 years old Earthling from Italy
who's been living in England for the past 8 years.

(it's-a-me, Eman!)

Joined this community thanks to @louisthomas, whom I'm a follower of since I
got back into dabbling with Cryptocurrencies.

As someone who never really got into social media, I must say I find Steemit
profoundly intriguing - I adore the idea that (finally) there is a system in place
for people to curate and, in a way, police the content of the platform themselves!

A bit about me: I'm a technically minded creative individual, been working
in films making visual effects for years (making dragons breathe fire for your entertainment pleasure!), before feeling the need for a change and moving into
programming for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications.

As an OG Italian (Sorry friends from New Jersey! :P) my love for - good - coffee runs deep
and I've got tomato sauce instead of blood, can revert my knowledge of English to
the barest "badababibidi" at will, gesticulate way too much and will tell to your face that Marmite is, after all, disgusting! (among other very opinionated things)
Yes, those are the important things to know about me!

I spend quite a bit of my time studying psychology - a topic I adore - which led me
to the study of sleight-of-hand magic, which became one of my most addictive hobbies.
I also write what some people have defined as poetry (in the most drunken circles), love to spend time with some blank paper and a pencil, and I could not live without music or playing music.

All of those are topics I plan on writing/making videos about in here.

My journey with cryptocurrency had its ups and downs. Started dabbling with Bitcoins
when they were just shy of $10 each, mined and bought some with my best friend, and then...well, life happened.
Just a few months ago I remembered
that I still held some BTC in a - veeeery - old wallet on a - veeeery - old laptop. (Isn't that almost the purest definition of holding? hahah)

Turned out those were still there (the expression on my face rivalled the Munch painting) , which have funded my recent journey into the
'fun' part of crypto trading.
Actually, I say trading, but I pretty much never daytrade altcoins (or I do just for fun on incredibly small amounts).

I'm in for the long run, I believe in the project (and the idea, on a most abstract level), and
I find daytrading cryptocurrency a weird extreme juxtaposition with the original vision of said
currencies.

Let's say I choose to use my holdings as a super-savings account! I'm also studying the Ethereum system in order
to use it to power an application I've been thinking about for quite a while (not CryptoKitties, I swear!)

Regardless, we're part of a very significant cultural shift, all of us here.
In the course of the next few years, there will be a massive change one way or another, and we were all there at the beginning.

...

(Sure, yeah, now lots of people will still just do it to catch that next 1000% coin, but on things of this scale I tend to be a bit more idealist. Sue me hahah)

Hmmm...this has turned out to be quite the long introduction. Hopefully I haven't lost you halfway through!

Peace out and speak to most of you soon!
-Eman
