My cryptocurrency journey so far...

Hello, Steemians!

I'm new to Steemit, so thought I'd introduce myself: I'm an expat Brit, husband, and father working in web tech in New York City. I've been living in the U.S. for 19 years, and became a U.S. Citizen a few years' ago.

Slightly less than 4 months ago, my curiosity about cryptocurrencies, blockchains, mining, etc. finally got the better of me, so I decided to dip my toes into the rather murky water...

It seems like forever ago now, but in that short time, I have:

• Read a ton of stuff about cryptocurrencies;
• Opened exchange accounts on Coinbase, Bitstamp, and Binance (and yes, some of these are referral links!);
• Bought BTC, ETH, LTC, BCS, XRP, KMD, XLM, LEN, TRX, and OMG;
• Acquired a Ledger Nano S hardware wallet and sent some coins to it;
• Treated myself to a new Dell laptop with an NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU (also for gaming!);
• Earned a 0.000845 BTC (~$10) referral commission from Coinbase;
• Rented out my GPU to crypto miners using NiceHash for Windows and earned my first 0.001 BTC (about $12 -- this took about a week, probably cost about $5 or $6 in electricity, and made my laptop sound like a hairdryer!)

And now I've joined Steemit, the next step in my crypto-journey.

I have no idea where this will all lead, but so far it's been a thrilling ride!
